if any we lose Clark I'm afraid and depends on how much they have to give Wilson there good chance we lose Reed also which would be real bad. He really played great and will only get better. I just wonder how Dallas will do it with all there young great players deals coming up.

They've known what they had to pay Wilson since Rodgers signed his deal, so what we pay Clark has nothing to do with that.

Lawrence's contract does mean they're right not re-evaluating again whether to try to trade Clark, or pay him the same or even north of 21M a year. Clark's stats are better than Lawrences, so my guess is Clark's agent has already told John and Pete that they want more than this.

So yeah, if we sign Clark, it will most definitely impact Reed also being signed, and how we move forward with building the D-line.

I hate to say it, but Bobby's the one we need to let walk. He's older than Clark, and though he's been incredibly impactful and the defense will NOT be the same without him, the greater need is impact pass-rushers, period.

It sounds ridiculous to let go a Pro Bowler in his prime, but people were saying the exact same thing about Earl and Sherman right up until December 2016. Advancing age does bring increased risk, and though losing Bobby would be a blow, losing a double-digit pass rusher would be a bigger one. It's always lack of pass rush that's killed us in the playoffs. Always.

If one has to go? Yes.

I say keep them all. And if things are looking tight in the future, don't re-sign Britt after this year.

Seattle should be looking to stack the D-Line, pay the QB, and continue to build their O-Line through the draft.

Pete brings his expertise to the table to develop the secondary with draft picks, which he has always done. Ken can help with the LBer development. Those units can play great if the D-Line is stout in front of them, but that is the key.

I've ran the numbers on the salary cap calculator on overthecap, and it easily can be done. Just look up Rodgers, Lawrence, etc. And structure it that way and watch what happens. They fit.
Even if the cap continues to rise, it'd be around 30% of cap space on two players. Has it been done before? If so, has it been done with team success?

Adding in Wagner and Reed to those two could be close to 50% of the cap on four players for multiple seasons!

Clark should've been done last year. Pussyfooting around in the long run just ends up costing you more money.
Just did a quick search if they did try to re-sign him last year and this is what I got:

While Burkhardt declined to discuss specifics of his talks with the Seahawks, one could read between the lines and assume the team looked to extend Clark last year while his value was more in the $14 million to $16 million range. Clark's side, which took out a loss-of-value insurance policy, hasn't been in any hurry to do a deal knowing that more money awaits.

"I don't care if those guys were high first-round picks," Burkhardt said of the aforementioned pass-rushers. "I don't mind being quoted saying I absolutely put Frank in that echelon with those guys, so I'm not going to sit here and do a deal early and then watch in March when those guys get $X million a year and Frank not be in that range. Why would we do that? I feel like I have just as good of a player, and I want to be very clear, that is not a knock on anybody. Frank is on that level, and I believe everybody around the league will tell you that as well." http://www.espn.com/blog/seattle-seahaw ... r-seahawks

But I'm also reading Bob Condotta say they haven't had any meaningful talks as of June 2018, so who knows.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind Clark being traded, but Seattle would need to get a 1st for him. I think Seattle should then double-up on EDGE rushers in the draft, like Brian Burns in the 1st & Joe Jackson in the 3rd.

The one thing that Clark has is his youth. Russ and Bobby are on the backside of there careers, which is time for the Seahawks to get what they can and move on. Build a balanced team.

I personally wouldn't say 30 is the back side of their career for QBs. QBs last longer than most other positions and also don't enter their prime as early as others... imo Russell Wilson's best career year is still in front of him.

Russell is not on the backside he is in his prime as a QB.

Linebacker is another story, much like Kam he has seen a lot of plays for the seasons he has played and isn't showing his downturn yet, but the mileage is there. He seeks out contact and makes tackles and is caught up in a lot of awkward hits and secondary hits from team mates and opposition as well.

QB's are now playing at a high level at 40. Russ might get one more contract after this one.
