The memes and negative reactions are boring and dumb but you understand why this is happening, right? It's hard to have an actual discussion about a complex prediction, like the Seahawks finishing 3rd in the NFC West, because that's like 5+ debates rolled into one. In order for the Seahawks to finish 3rd (and not just from a season lost to injuries), a bunch of other things have to be true and many of those things will be debatable. Thus, this prediction is also a debate about how good Purdy is, about how important the departing Seahawks players were to the team, when Stafford's age will catch up with him, etc. Every single one of those points can all devolve into talks that go into circles and end with agreeing to disagree. So you've basically stated a thesis people don't want to leave unanswered but the thesis is based on a bunch of points people really don't have the desire or time to argue. People won't ignore it because they disagree with it. People also can't really engage with it because it's a lot of work for something very inconsequential. As a result, people end up posting memes and reactions instead.Certainly easier for the laugh react warriors to post memes than rebuttals.
If this is the kind of response you what you want, then hey, it's working. If you're actually trying to get more of a fact-based, intellectual style debate, you're going to have to go about this differently, like trying to argue something simpler. (I'd love it if memes and negative reactions weren't what they are, but it's a lot easier to figure out ways of writing stuff that doesn't encourage this than it is to try to change all of internet culture).
