He did a stupid thing. He knows it and he paid for it. His wave wasn't nearly as stupid as your post...

They say people who tend to understand and detect sarcasm are more intelligent. Figured the "make huge plays for us" was a dead giveaway

and saying so long to Sidney Rice.

I think it is more than clear that Tate gives us more than Sidney Rice ever even flashed.
Yeah, he's just nails. I think we resign him.

Many are suspecting Tate will likely give us some sort of discount. That's wishful thinking and I hope you're right. His relationship with Wilson will help, but the Harvin signing probably didn't. If you recall, he wasn't pleased before changing his mind and welcoming Harvin to the team. OTOH, things have changed significantly for Tate since the day of that tweet. Now, Harvin will only make Tate better and is no longer, IMO, a threat to Tate's occupation. I still anticipate Tate going for the big money, but if we are even close, I think and hope he stays. Rapidly climbing the ladder of my favorite Hawks. He's the next Tim Brown. ; )

His price tag is going up by the week. I wish we'd signed him to an extension in the offseason.

It would be absolutely devastating to lose Tate on a personal level, and only slightly less so on a team level. He's an absolute monster, one of a kind. I have a hunch the FO feels the same way and will work something out.

I think you can do OK with Harvin, Tate, Baldwin, Kearse and "unnamed 2014 rookie" :)

I like this. But the unnamed rookie should be a 6.4 tall mismatch machine. We have the small elusive speed guys already.

Also, let's not forget about Thurmond, either. I hope they can get him a fair deal and keep him here.

Hate to say it, but it is starting to look like he is playing his way outside of our budget.

Personally I always thought we'd re-sign him anyway. However, I DO hope the team finds a stud big WR that can stay healthy and contribute.

Just to tap the brakes a bit regarding a new contract, Tate hasn't been to a pro bowl and he hasn't broken 700 yards or 70 catches receiving yet. I agree he's going to get a nice contract, and deservedly so, but I'm not so sure it's going to be one of those break the bank type deals. As a comparison, Mike Wallace had a couple of 100 catch/1000 yard seasons before being grossly overpaid by Miami. So let's not worry before we have to.

Rice was a goner before he had his knee injury. No way we can keep him and Harvin with all the priorities we have coming due in the next couple of seasons.

Hopefully we can resign Tate. He's developing into one of the better after the catch receivers in the game. He's not a Dez Bryant/Julio Jones/Megatron type but he's turned into a very reliable receiver...and he's a fantastic punt returner, the best we've had in awhile.

That's a pretty shallow look at value. Look closer and you'll see he hasn't been in an offense that can produce those kind of numbers for an individual. I will agree he's not a break-the-bank player.

That is exactly why he will not break the bank in any other team than possibly the Seahawks. In the eyes of the others he still is unproven. Unless he does something unimaginable in the Supper Bowl...

The thread title got my hopes up.

I apologize - certainly not my intention. I just thought that game was a statement from Tate to the rest of the league and our regime in particular.
