You're the one who said people don't get it.

This has run its course. Go M's. 24/7 365
Yeah, I was specifically referring posts that were assuming that I root for the M's to lose, that I want to be miserable, or that it's part of the plan when other teams slump but the sky is falling when it's the M's. That's why I asked you what you thought I meant.

Obviously those responses don't get the tongue in cheek nature of the thread that does have some truth to it when looking at the organization over a span of decades and being reminded of Bill Murray in Groundhogs Day

I'm half messing with you, I don't actually believe you want them to lose. Apologies ✌️ 🍺

These effers have been breaking our hearts since 77, it's maddening to say the least.

I think that this thread goes to the very heart of being a sports fan, and how people deal with the inevitable disappointment that comes with signing up to root for a team.

I don't think we can ultimately control how we respond emotionally to wins and losses. It's sort of at the heart of who we are as a person.

I do think that things have changed over time. People seem more passionate about sports, and that's both good and bad. I think that the attitude that only a championship signifies a successful season, and that everyone else is a loser is a fairly recent trend, that only helps make people more unhappy.

I'm not taking sides in this debate, I think it's very difficult to change our reactions to these things. But it does seem very Seattle-like to complain when your team is in first place, just as people are very unhappy with a Seahawks team that finished the last three seasons with winning records. I think that a 9-8 or 10-7 record is a sports fan's Rorschach test on whether you're a glass half empty or a glass half full guy.

Nobody cares about winning records except Seattle fans I swear. It's so cringe. Make the playoffs or bust. Simple as.

1 division title in a quarter century for the Ms. Enough said.

Angie said the Yankees series was a moral victory. Lmfao. This franchise.

When the m’s lose the first thing I do is shut the tv off and cuss them out and complain about how they suck and they should all go to triple A and Jerry’s a bum. The next thing I do is see what time tomorrow’s game is on GO M’S!!

The only thing that's cringe is that you care so much how other people view the team. It's ridiculous how many of you gloomers actually BELIEVE that someone is satisfied just because they're enjoying the season. You can be pissed off and STILL enjoy the damn team. People can fan however the hell they want. Positive, Debbie Downer crap, or somewhere in the middle.

And I'll say it, yet again: Nobody is forcing you to watch. This slump suck a**, suck it up.
First place team with a sh** ton of injuries, and the whining continues.

Do you, but it's just strange af.

Angie cuts off Goldie all the time and he’s so patient. Then she tells a story, then she explains the story, then Goldie moves on…
Yes. I also hate how everyone is so damn amazing. She was talking about Mitch Garver the other day how amazing he was not getting a chance to play because of Raleigh but he's always ready and then boom he strikes out. It's every damn batter for 9 straight innings, then the pitching and defensive side too. Just shut up, you are clearly getting paid by the team so you have to be positive but we all watch the same damn game you do, everyone else sees it different from you. Just let Goldie talk and you can sit there and not or shake your head and call it a day. I've caught myself doing something else not paying any attention to the game in the background and out loud subconsciously I say "For the love of god please shut her up." She's insufferable.

That's part of being a fan you still watch through the bad times. Yes I know nobody is forcing me to watch. Not sure what that has to do with it. Are people forced to go to a restaurant that sucks? No but they go because they're hungry and hope the food is good this time around. Same reason I choose Wendy's over McDonald's . Or Ezells over KFC. Taco bell sucks but I still like tacos.
It's not about being a gloomy Debbie downer it's simply pointing out the same fug ups this franchise has done for decades. You can't be a Mariner fan and not bring up the cringe moments and total fug ups. This is what it is.

Fair enough.
However, didn't hear a lot of bitching when they won 9 straight series. Magically, a little slump and everything sucks again. I mean, clearly the season is over on May 16th.
Go M's

I find that I'm much more miserable after a Seahawks loss, but I'm trying to be more chill. I wonder if there's a fan that deals with losing better and if he can share his secret with us.

(I did have a girlfriend who would "console" me after a loss and that's a good way of coping, but my wife is more in the "good, your stupid team lost" camp.)

Oh god yes. WAY worse after Hawks losses. Nice thing about baseball, almost always another game tomorrow.
That being said, I used to be so much worse after Hawks games. Even my wife has noticed my angry, let it ruin my day period is a lot shorter than it used to be. She loves football but gets over it almost immediately. Me, not so much.
