They are not going to draft an OL in the first round. They have players on the squad just as good as any "lets take a flyer on this College boy because fans want it". The solution is to develop OL players from lower rounds, and pick up a Safety, CB, TE or running back. The one we have is "peanut brittle" in a blue uni.

Bold prediction: If Zabel is there when we pick and we pass on him, we'll be talking about him in the future the way we currently do with Creed Humphrey and Jalen Carter.

So, just take him....please!!!
He is not on that level. But he would still be a very solid pick at #18, though I doubt he makes it.

Zabel is ready right now to play either Guard position or Center in the NFL. This kid is NOT a project.

Go watch his tape at the Senior Bowl practices. He stuffed everybody one-on-one... and the reason he got so many of those reps?... the Edge guys were asking for him... 'cause nobody was getting the better of him... and each Edge guys wanted to be the first one to do that.
You know who else dominated the senior bowl last year? Chris Haynes

Grey Zabel. We ought to daft that guy for the name itself. I always think famous auther when I hear his name. Maybe like Zane Grey. lol

I still prefer Booker over Zabel, outside zone be damned. A better player is a better player, if in fact he ends up being better. I just want to see some physical maulers in the run game with good enough pass blocking skills.

Booker's draft stock is tanking and the whole scheme fit worries me a lot. His athleticism and mobility is really questionable, and considering the fact we've already seen some egregious misses on guards in the first round such as Kenyon Green (#15 2022) and possibly Zion Johnson (#17 2022), I wouldn't be mad if we didn't draft an OL at all in round 1 and went with a DB in the first round.

There have been huge DB misses in the first round too. In addition to some big OG hits.

Yes, we know. The front office is the worst in history.

/sarcasm
I didn't say anything like that. Hell, we haven't had any DB busts in the first round in forever (granted, we've hardly drafted any in the first under Schneider). I was pointing out the lack of logic in suggesting we should target a DB because other teams have drafted OG busts in the first. I'll bet in recent history, interior line is one of the safer positional bets around where we're drafting.

Dont take a guard in the first just to take one, but if you're going to pass, don't do it because the Texans made a bad pick three years ago.

Yeah, he really laid a stinker at the combine. But he just doesn't look that nonathletic on the field. I mean as bad as his testing anyway. Most knew he wouldn't test great just not that bad. I'm curious about his pro day. He could also be one of the rare outliers (Travis Frederick, Brown Jr, etc). His arm length and hand size are unique for a guard, he's pretty dominant in pass pro. The biggest thing is just watching him play, he's a beast. I've seen some whiffing too out in space or trying to reach and whiffing. But I've also seen some decent play where he's pulling. Maybe he won't fit in a wide zone, that's a legit concern I know. I hope he gets drafted by team that at least does 50/50 wide zone, just to scratch that curiosity.

They played a total of 1 game on ESPN. In August. I doubt anyone was scouting FCS OL for this year's draft.

So you already knew an answer but decided to ask anyway? Cool

Also their playoff games were on too just for the record ✌️
