I got nothing against Holmgren getting in. I wouldn't do it for another 7 to 10 years though.

I think the criteria isn't as high as what I would prefer so I suppose he is as good a candidate as any.

As far as your question... Knox was a better coach.

The results don't agree with your assessment of Knox, who never made it to the big dance. Holmgren did so 3 times. Knox was a very good coach, but was a bit like Schottenheimer in that his teams played hard all season but didn't peak when it counted. I disagree with your assessment.

As I disagree with yours

With all the talk about Mike Holmgren I would be surprised if he isn't elected in the hall of fame. He's one of either 2 or 3 coaches to take a team from either division to the Super Bowl.

I know Tuna did it but can't think of a 3rd right now.

Love him or hate him he did bring the level of Seahawks football up from the dregs.

:les:

edit: Him, Parcells, Reeves, Shula, Vermiel all have taken teams from each divisions to a SB but none won with both.

He is also known for so many of his assistants becoming head coaches and has a great reputation for bringing QBs along. If he makes the HOF he clearly should make our ROH.

No brainer. If Chuck Knox is in, then Mike Holmgren should be too.

Seams like you guys are dogging chuck a little here.

He has almost the same win loss record as Holmgren did with the Hawks while coaching in a much tougher division at the time.

I honestly think that Holmgren benefitted quite a bit from playing in a very poor division. Not his fault but he did none the less.

I honestly think as a football coach that Knox was better

I see your weak division and raise you that because we constantly won the division thr schedule evened itself out. I will also say thst the division wasn't nearly as poor as you claim.

How is this a debate? How is there anyone that could have voted No? Only in Seattle.

I say definately yes. He did raise our level of competition and do great things for this organization as has been stated. As far as the "not as great as now" argument goes, you can not directly compare past to present and future. You can only look to what he did compared to our past. Otherwise, they need to remove about 3/4's of the Hall of Fame players as their abilities/records have been surpassed by the new "standard" of current NFL players.
