Just curious what .Net nation will say. I personally believe that he should be since Knox is there. But I know that Holmgren's legacy has faded a bit since PC/JS came to town.

What say you?

The first coach to Win a conference championship? Of course, this is a no brainer. And when PC wins the Lombardi, he gets in as well.

Without question he will be. He's the most successful coach in Seahawks history.

Seriously?!? The guy was our coach for a full decade and took us to the playoffs 5 consecutive seasons, 6 times total. Not to mention our only Superbowl appearance.

Before he came here we had been to a total of 4 post seasons in 23 years, and hadn't won a playoff game in 21. Holmgren put Seahawks football back on the map. This is an absolute no brainer. Especially since Knox is already in.

Took us to the playoffs six years out of ten and took us to our first and only Superbowl. Yes.

I've made no secret of the fact that I'm not a big Holmgren fan - especially when it comes to his talent as a GM. That said, yeah, he deserves a spot for pulling the team out of the 90s doldrums and getting them to their first SB appearance.

EDIT: And I truly, truly hope that this current iteration of the team is so outrageously successful that we all look back on Knox and Holmgren's inclusions and say, "Man, our standards were pretty low back then, huh?"

I really like Holgrem, but I think hes a tad overrated. My reasons:

1) He benefited greatly from division realignment. The NFC West has pretty much been a joke in the 00's with the exception of a few teams on different years.
2) His record isnt anything spectacular during that time at 86-74
3) A single NFC Title is all his accolades during that time (I dont count div titles). And where thats still good, show me another teams ring of honor coach with something less.

Guy did good things for seattle and had a great tenure here, but honestly, I think because we were smacked around in the AFC West for so long, we want to praise him to early. Give it 10 more years and we'll see what the Hawks accomplishments are. If we havent been able to top what he did, then by default, I guess he could join the ring.

Yes for sure, he had his issues but he torned this team around and too the team to he sb. A sb loss is still better than not ever going I say.

This isn't another team's ring of honor this is OUR ring of honor. From where we were before he came to where we were when he left, he took us a VERY long ways. He has done things for this no organization that no coach has done before or since. He belongs more than anyone. We're not talking about the NFL hall of fame here, this is the Seahawks Ring of Honor. If Holmgren doesn't belong, nobody does.

Thats kinda my point. At this point in our history, for coaches wise, I dont feel anyone belongs. Just because he was the best outta the bunch doesnt sway me.

I think Holmgren, Hass, Shaun & maybe even Mack all deserve to be in it.

Chicago has like 45 people in their ring of honor, Giants have like 35.... so I think we're still well within our limits.

We are going to have to get a bigger stadium for all the people we keep adding.

Maybe lower the font size?

That was kind of my feelings on the matter. If there is justification to keep Holmgren out of the Ring of Honor it would be because our standards are higher and will continue to get even higher as the years pass.

Zorn for example: important historical figure for the team, great fun to watch. But there's a difference between getting elected to the Ring when we only have 15-20 years of history vs. almost 40. In the big picture does he really deserve to be in the Ring? I'd say probably not based on his production on the field compared to Krieg, Hass or our expectations of Russell.

Knox is a bit of the same animal--our first real solid coach, gave most of us our first taste of sustained victory. But now that we have greater expectations, would he make it now? IMO I doubt it.

Will Holmgren be looked upon the same way 20 years from now? Should the Ring be easy to obtain for a bunch of players that were pretty good (should Shaun Alexander be up there for example?) or just the Hall of Famers?

This drives me crazy. The guy coached here for a decade. I get you're not a huge fan, but at least get his dang name right. HOLMGREN. It's not Holgrem, Holcrum, Holcran, Holgrum, or even Holdjfaksjfjt. HOLMGREN.
