Seahawks trade for Terrelle Pryor

Someone on another board, suggested this is to put pressure on Rw for contract time, That they are serious about Pryor, and if they feel he can turn into a serviceable QB, they might let Rw walk and save money. The feeling by this person and a few others is the FO feels they can use any serviceable, mobile QB on this team. Mind you I do not for one minute believe that, but thee are some who do.

That's just the typical hyperbole you get from uneducated fans. Every move is about replacing the starter. RW ain't going anywhere and will become a very rich man next year.

Sign TP to a cheap, long term deal. Lock up Earl & Sherm long term. TP has 2 years to learn behind RW. When contract time comes, the Jags or Texans or somebody offers RW $25 mill per season and TP takes over in SEA. Not necessarily what I want to happen or what I think is going to happen but it's certainly a realistic possibility.

On the right team, with a talented supporting cast, and a developmental coaching staff/culture of winning… IMO Terrelle Pryor could actually be better in the future than Colin Kaepernick is now! (Same legs, slightly less arm, but with better football intelligence, mind/character, touch on the football, and on field decision making.)

With so much cap room this year, the Raiders could have moved up to become a ‘middle of the pack franchise with a foundation for the future built in’ and instead… well, IMO they’ve actually managed to take a step BACK! Blown their cap, and all their wad ‘o cash. And now they’re gonna be paying the ’5 more years of mediocrity’ piper.

PC/JS just totally fleeced ‘em. Again! Of a 6’6″ 235 4.4-4.5 football player, that could possibly play: joker TE, BIG WR/red zone jump ball-fade threat, and backup scrambling style QB in a pinch. All for 705,000/year. Considering that was, (conditionally mind you), FROM THE (7)#32 SLOT… its pure genius I tell you. Wow. Masterful!

Terrell Pryor has only been a “losing Quarterback”, because THE RAIDERS ARE A LOSING FRANCHISE! He’s good. Good character. Good film room. Good size. Good speed. Maybe not a starting NFL QB… but hey, who is? Only 32 guys in the entire world, that’s it.

Still… WOWZA! We gave them Matt Flynn last year for a top ‘o the 5thpick, and they give us back Terrelle Pryor this year for a bottom of the 7thpick. Now that’s blatant Raiders GM/coaching staff stupidity in action!

I’m curious to know exactly what Reggie McKenzie is smoking, when he believes Matt Schaub, of all people, is a better choice in 2014 behind that sorry ass O-Line. At what? Most sacks, season? Most pick sixes, career? Most broken ribs/vertebrae, game? Seriously, he could DIE back there, and end up immortalized as the NFL’s first fatality!

Can you imagine the amount of trick plays we can have when RW, Prior and Percy all line up on the same play?
Just imagine the speed available on the roster.
I doubt we traded for Pryor without knowing, he is willing to switch positions. Pryor as a starting QB has no future in the NFL. Let's face it, he is light years away from T. Jack.

This scenario ran through my mind when I read about the trade for Pryor also.
It's one thing to stack the box, and go after your Quarterback with wild abandon, but imagine a Defense keying on Russell Wilson, only to see two other speedy threats in Harvin, Pryor, and the human dynamo Marshawn Lynch, eat your lunch for your narrowing your focus.
End Around - Flea Flicker - or what ever gadget play you could dream up, you could have the option book wide open.
Of course, Pryor would have to re-evaluate his over-all athletic value as a Receiver/Tight End, QB back-up, OR maybe being a back-up QB elsewhere.

Never understood the Raiders handling of Pryor. Or really any of their quarterbacks. It was an intriguing pick when they got him, but then he just got stashed away and never really got a shot.

Last season, he looked pretty good when he played. He was basically their entire offense. I've heard some nonsense criticism about him, because people forget he was playing behind an atrocious oline that not even Tim Ruskell could love. He had no weapons, no real support. And still managed to do some impressive things.

Agree with others that he's got a higher ceiling than Kaepernick and I'm glad the niners didn't get him. Harbaugh and that SF oline would have made him a star. He's smarter than Kaepernick, a better runner, and doesn't suffer the one read and run complex.
