I agree. I believe many folks on here underappreciate Sidney Rice. It's unfortunate his time here was filled with health issues. One thing Sidney did when he was healthy was be that clutch receiver. Doug Baldwin started to grow into that role in 2013 but until then, it was Rice's job. Tightrope sideline catches were a thing of beauty. Best of luck to you, Sidney.

IMO, if any draft prospect or random FA had a reel that had all of Sidney's highlight catches and was also 6'3" with arguably a top-5 catch radius in the NFL, then every Seahawks' fan would be drooling all over themselves and demanding that JS pick him up.

You didn't understand my point, and that's a pretty callous attitude to have toward the players you root for, but to each his own.

I would guess John is talking to Rice about restructuring and if they can't come to a reasonable number that works for both parties they will let him hit the market. If some team wants to give him 4-6 million a year I would guess he is gone, if not I could see him back on the Hawks with a 1-2 year deal that is in that 3-4 million range.

It would be nice to see Rice back in the mix, but I would guess the team will draft someone and probably bring in a FA or two to compete, so if Rice is gone the team will be just fine (like they were most all of this season with Rice injured).

Meh, he already has been paid $23.5 mil for approx 60% attendance and locking up a roster slot that could be occupied by a high potential young player that is actually healthy. Face it Sid is gone, his tweet saying goodbye and thanks to the 12's is enough evidence for me. I think he's done, his knees are shot and he will be rehabbing the ACL this coming season with little cartilege left.

Time to move on, thanks for you time Sid the Hawks set you up for the rest of your life. Enjoy you retirement hope you aren't too crippled up.

Your point was understood. You're a pretty big Rice fan. That's cool, but football is a business, and the team is going to lose players and add players every single year. That's the sport. That's the game.

Every single season the goal is to be better than you were the year before. Add into that contracts, salary caps, free agents, injuries, players aging, and a crop of new talent entering the league and you're gonna be an emotional wreck if you get attached to every single person that wears your favorite teams uniform.

I don't root for the players. I root for the team.

I'm an NFL fan, but I'm a Seahawks Fanatic.

Your right we would. Unless said prospect has lost not one but three steps has an oft injured knee and little production his last year. He is a good guy and I wish him well but unfortunately he isn't what he once was.

That doesn't mean anything imo, it could just mean he doesn't know who leaked it..... he didn't say anything like "that's nonsense/not true"



EDIT: It would make sense in negotiations to possibly keep the idea that Rice may still be a factor on the team, which would take away the advantage of Tate's party being able to throw out the fact we're short at receiver if we lose two guys

It's doing Rice a solid is the reason. Once he's officially cut, he doesn't have to wait till Mar 11th to sign with a team. His agent can start negotiating now with any team and even be signed before free agency starts. Gives a huge leg up on the process. This is not uncommon.

I understand player courtesy. It's the impatience of (some) media and fans to push events along I don't get.
