In a weird way this might be good (or maybe I am just telling myself this). I believe MM is a cerebral coach. It’s possible (just an odd theory) he might overthink things. This will force him to just play ball and not overthink it. On the other hand it might really screw him up having so little time to game plan. Whatever happens…... Go Hawks.

Certainly a rough stretch.

If we can dodge the injury bug, it might actually not be a bad deal. Maybe the guys will just stay geared up instead of having to get that way.
Guess I’ll just choose to think positive about it.
My nature says bitch about the NFL hating the Hawks but that won’t change anything.

These are the times where the medical people need to be on top of the players and those massage therapists at facilities around the clock, light workloads so they can heal between games.

We started 3-0. If we play .500 ball up to the bye week (11/10) then we're 6-3 and probably still in the division lead.

Lots of ways to skin this cat. ;)

Edit: this isn't a prediction, I think we can do better than .500 up to the bye. It's a tough stretch though, for sure.

If we win Sunday we come through this 11 day stretch with a 2-1 record and be at 4-1 for the season. I definitely prefer doing this early in the year. I don’t like having to play again on a Thursday though in December

Yes, if the Seahawks win Sunday, they're 4-1 for the season, but they are not guaranteed getting through the difficult eleven-day period at 2-1.
If the Seahawks win Sunday, then they're 1-1 in the seven-day stretch from Monday to Sunday. Then four days later, they still have to face the 49ers. In order to come out of the tough eleven-day stretch (from Monday, which was the 30th of September, through Thursday the 10th of October), the Seahawks have to win both of the games remaining in it.

Is there really that much of a difference for us playing 3 games in 11 days (one road game, followed by 2 home games), vs the 49ers playing 3 games in 12 days (2 home games, followed by a road game).

I would say travelling next week to play TNF after a Sunday game is much worse than "only" having a 6 day rest between Monday's game and Sunday's.

I think the Jets just completed the same gauntlet. Three games in eleven days just seems wrong to me.

I hate Thursday football. Having Thursday games every week is a money thing that is against the best interests of the players.

Shouldn't be happening.

Having said that, it is better early in the season than late, at least. I still hate it.

You are correct. I was ( and still am 😂) half asleep posting. I was thinking the 11 days ends Sunday with the Giants in my record figuring.

- The Thursday night thing is somewhat laziness by the league. I am fully aware of how difficult scheduling an entire NFL season is, considering venue availability and such. However, although it wouldn't work the first four weeks, those Thursday games week 5 through end of Thursday schedule, should be played by teams coming OFF their bye. You lock those games in, then work around them. The "short week" problem is solved.

I mean we all have situations with our jobs where sometimes you have a month full of long days and working through weekends and that's when you gotta prioritize sleep/rehab and try to put everything else in life to the minimum requirement. Or if you do any thing like races on the weekends and happen to be back to back, same thing. Like I'm not an NFL Athlete, but I personally put my body through the ringer last month doing Tough Mudder, and then quickly turning around for Spartan while having a plethora of other crazy things going on health, personal and professional all at the same time. You just put the Netflix, Going Out, etc. all aside and focus on what needs to get done.

I expect our high paid NFL athletes and their training staff to do the same during this period. I am thankful that the strength of schedule did not do Lions Sunday and then Niners TNF (or vice-versa).

I mean no NFL game is "easy", but the Giants appear to be a game you have a chance to win not being 100% healthy. So that extra time for the starters to get healthy for TNF vs the Niners I am grateful for.

We should look at the bye weeks what teams are taking them and if those would have been good match ups for TNF. I'll admit the scheduling job for the NFL has to be ungodly complicated. You got divisions that need to play, you try your best to split those divisional games front and back of the season. You got match ups that do draw bigger crowds and deserve primetime, then you also try your best to ensure teams have somewhat fair strength of schedule going down the road. Also travelling, etc. etc.

Admitting it's your nature to be a bitcher is an important part of being able to change...or don't, I don't actually care. Although I personally prefer less bitching, as you told me, "you fan your way, I'll fan mine. Go Hawks!

I figured it must've been something like that. Your comments tend to be among the ones most worth reading around here, and you tend to be clear and precise even about complex issues. And I don't know how you know about Seahawks roster-related transactions before the Seahawks phone app lets me know about them and before I see news about them anywhere else, but you do it all the time.

In a lofty place tanglin' with Satan over history.

I just want to say that I really admire and respect, and, actually, am quite fascinated by people like you that participate in physically AND mentally strenuous events/competitions like that. Always have. Same with long distance marathon runners, mountain climbers, triathletes, etc. It's a depressing reminder of just how fukcing lazy I am. Way to go! 👏🏿
