I like K9 and I do believe he's been playing hurt all season because it's a contract year. Regardless, I hope the FO doesn't spend too much on resigning him and I don't believe they will.

I'm down with this! I would prefer that he avoid big hits, and run out of bounds instead of trying to lay a hit on someone. People used to bitch about Shaun Alexander doing that, but there's no sense in getting hurt trying to prove a point.

Chris Carson was a Monster when it came to plowing in to people, especially along the boundary. Pete Carroll kept telling him to stop hitting people at the end of his runs, but Chris couldn't pull back, and it shortened his career dramatically.

Same thing for Jaxson Dart, whose running style has knocked him out of games.

I LOVE that JSN avoids hits as best as possible. He's not built to take on 200# plus linebackers, and DBs.

So sign me up for retaining K9, because next years offensive line will be so much better than this years because of the experience they got playing together this year, as well as learning Koobs' blocking scheme.

It really all comes down to how much it is going to cost. I have a K9 jersey and am a big fan but unless you are a bona-fide stud then paying good $$ for a RB just doesn't seem worth it with the number of running backs you can get in rounds 2-4 that can produce. Every year there are RB's who go down due to injury and the backup steps in and produces. Of course talent plays a part but I think that scheme and O-line are a bigger factor in whether your running game is successful or not.

Stat-wise KWlll is currently 18th best, that would slot him at 6M per year on the RB salary scale, currently at 2.1M.
Even considering his shared time with Charbs, he's never really been a big endzone magnet.
The only way he demands bigger $ is if he breaks out big late season & in the playoffs.

I have to say it, I'm fading on Walker. It would have to be a REAL team friendly deal to keep him for me now. The thing with Walker for me is that he's a real "tweener" back, not quite the good downhill/between the tackles runner, and not quite the speed/shifty guy that gets around the edge. I loved Walker when we picked him, and he still shows flashes of brilliance, but he's just not consistently good at any one thing.

The way things are currently constructed, it's only rarely good money spent giving a RB a big second contract. That doesn't mean we can ignore or downplay the RB position. You just have to keep scouting them well and replenishing them on rookie contracts. With rare exception, that's just the way it is now.

Unfortunately, the explosion just doesn't seem to be there anymore. I'd still be happy to bring him back on a cheap, one-year contract if that's a possibility, but we still need to look at upgrading the position in the offseason because Charbs sure isn't it either.

That's what gets me about him the past few years. He doesn't seem to have great RB vision/instincts to match his athletic profile. All too often I feel there were yards to be had that he didn't get.

Talent or no, I don't trust Walker. He will not/can not turn it up field and get what he can get. Charbonnet will.

Walker may have a higher ypc because when the seas do finally part he's fast AF but for every big gain, I'd suggest there's 10 3rd and longs because he gave up a TFL.

We can do better, especially since our SB window is open...

The jury is out on Charbonnet still - there are glimpses that he can be a top quality pro still, but he remains inconsistent. He is healthy though, and perhaps if given a run as lead back could be impressive.

Walker has shown flashes, but I think we've seen the best of him. Someone will pay more than he is worth imo. I would be in favour of drafting an RB high every 2-3 years and cycling through without overpaying on 2nd contracts - at least unless we find a tier 1 RB.

Charbonnet might well cost $3.75M next season. If so there will need to be a management discussion about his role and value.

Later edit: Scratch that. I thought the 2nd Round pick target was 50% of snaps, but it isn't. The target is 60% of snaps and he won't reach that.

I don’t…have flip flopped on Walker at times but, would love to keep our duo.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling someone’s going to offer K9 more than we’re willing to match.

K9 is a different type guy though…maybe he stays because Seattle is ‘home’. One can wish…
