Which means the same as we do not NEED to retain him. No doubt we should retain him at the proper value.

Hard not to route for Ken because he's solid but he's not game changing enough to spend money on in free agency.

I don't doubt that the OL doesn't done him any favors but that probably more of a reason to let him walk and spend that money upgrading the right guard postion.

He's a guy you could see moving to the right spot and having a great year.

Poor running back are just to replaceable.

With K9's injury history, I dont think it will cost a whole lot to get him back on a 2 yr deal.

This is one of those things that is squarely in JSs wheelhouse as of late. It's a value proposition with influence from mid round draftable RBs. JS has a very good track record of finding value with this position.

K9 had a nice day yesterday. 6.5 YPC. Good to see Kubiak use him in the passing game as well.

And he was at 4.5 a carry before the game. And he also has played in all 11 games this year.

And to be very clear, I do NOT want them signing him to an extension unless it's low money. And it's no secret I think he's a hell of a player.

I disagree on retaining K9. Too many negative plays. I get some of that goes to the line, but he dances way too much. Too often injured. I am a huge K9 fan but I am all for letting him and Charbs go.

I'd love to see Walker back, as long as it isn't for too much. I don't see him getting top money, given his injury history and type of game he has. He relies a lot on speed and quickness, which is the first thing to go.

It doesn't much matter whether he averages 4.0 or 4.5 yards per carry. That's likely the difference between being tackled for an 8 yard run or breaking the tackle and having a 65-yard run. What matters is how good a pass blocker and receiver he is. His blocking has been much better this year but he has always been extremely limited as a receiver. If he can be retained at a fair price he would be a good 'piece' to have, but he's not an every situation or every game player.

There is alot of guys coming due. The Hawks have a history of amazing running backs. We would have to get a real hometown discount to justify an extention considering all the factors. Sure he is lookin good for the moment. I just think a 245lb 4.35 monster could be out there....

My conspiracy theory is that JS wants to make a strong play to retain him and coordinated with the staff to intentionally use charbonnet more than they would have otherwise to be able to go to the negotiating table with very reduced stats on k9s side.

Charbonnett needs to be the lead back, either people have figured him out or he lost a step but K9 cant get the edge anymore
