Get Peter Hunter on the horn

Seriously, that guy was awesome. He held his own coming off the street.

Shead should be able to do as well as that guy.

.This will most likely get buried and unread but...

I think Seahawks had Winfield in their back pocket the whole time.

Winfield is a better slot corner than either Maxwell or Lane. He's been an outstanding player for much of his career and is a 15 year veteran.

Even if it seemed he lost a step back in training camp competing with younger, faster, stronger players... three months of not taking bumps and bruises can do a body good to a healing process... it wouldn't surprise if Winfield feels like a 30 year old right now in terms of what his body can do.

Not only that you have to think of the insight and wisdom Winfield can bestow on the younger players like Maxwell, Lane, and even Sherman. Winfield is hell of a football brain to pick... he's essentially the Marquand Manuel/Lawyer Milloy of 2013.

And the Seahawks have plenty of players they could cut like Hauptmann, OBS, Mayowa, even Morgan. Its not like we have to cut a CB once the others return.

I would like to see Winfield in the slot full time and keep Maxwell/Lane for the second CB slot and dime package guy.

I'm still pretty interested to see what we have in Shead though. Although this might not be the time to find out, Brees and all.

On a side note, does anyone know why WT3 didn't appeal so he could at least play against NO? That seems like the right move in this situation with such a huge game coming up. He could then be out for 14-17 and be in for the playoffs.

Shead to me is going to be a Babineaux type player... multi-versatile can play CB, S, and ST.

He will get beat about as much as or a tad bit more than Browner does, but he's one of the strongest DBs we signed out of the collegiate level... he had 2 more bench reps than Kam who posted 22. So Shead could definitely be a big boy in press coverage.

Shead's athleticism is comparable to Richard Sherman's in a Brandon Browner body. Both Shead and Sherman are 6-2 ish, with long arms, same 40 time with comparable splits, Vert, 3cone, shuttle times, the only differences is Shead posted 9 more bench reps and Sherman has a whole foot on Shead in the Broad Jump at 11 feet... however Shead posted his jump of 10 feet and 1 inch and all his other measures at 25 more pounds heavier than Sherman who was listed at 195.

I really wanted Shead to take that 4th Safety spot from Jeron Johnson at the beginning of the year.

How long would it take to get an appeal?

I was thinking his appeal would have been heard and ruled on by this weekend. That seems like the only logical reasoning to me.

I believe you have a few days to decide whether or not to appeal and then it would be scheduled which I would assume push you past this upcoming game. It depends on when this was brought down, we just heard about it but perhaps they knew about this a week or two ago.

When Tru got hurt Sherm stepped in.

When Thurmond got hurt, BB stepped in.

We will be fine, next man up.

Dudes old. We built this team on youth and swagger.

Pass on this old guy.

Right, because having the veteran presence of a HoF player coming in fresh down the stretch wouldn't improve this team chances in what is likely the most important games in the season.

See Ray Lewis and Ed Reed coming back healthy in time to push the Ravens into the Superbowl.

See Randy Moss stabilizing the 49ers poor WR corps.

See what losing Reggie Wayne has done to Andrew Luck.

Winfield would be a great thing for this team.

I think he is old and washed up. Couldn't get a job this year.

You are seriously comparing him to a bunch of hall of fame players.

Maybe you were smoking with Thurmond? Lol

In addition to the Hawks news about Winfield, Shead, and Simon- I'm also hearing the Hawks are working out Tru too.

Not sure who this guy is but I wonder if this has any legs to it? Danny O'Neil retweeted it, so there might be something to it.

He tweeted the following after twitterverse saw the above tweet

@_MParker I hope my source is just joking with me. I really do.

He "couldn't get a job" because he was waiting for the right situation. We're not looking at him to start opposite Sherm and shut down guys.. merely add depth. You know.. since we now have 3 active corners on the roster.
