Ok one last response tbf ..
The plan they are relying on is like the Rays, the ones we trade with so much.
It's not just a few guys in A ball but across..
Some pieces are already set here and the rest are coming .. They have said when
the times right they would sign a big $$ FA if needed, that time was not this year
or last and may not be next season either.
I'm a optimist, I'm not going blame the guy who gets handcuffed by owner but yet
has gotten us this far..
All teams have signed Fa's, drafted players and traded for players that busted every
year. You think another guy isn't going to be limited by Stanton?
See you next season..
I'm just going to copy and paste one of my posts from another thread. This is why I think Dipoto deserves to be fired.
"They won 90 games, 90 games, and 88 games the past 3 seasons. I know that's not among the top teams in MLB, but it's not far off. If you can improve that just a little bit, you're 100% a playoff team, and likely a division winner.
I get that everyone hated the alarming number of K's last season, but that offense also scored the 12th most runs in baseball. That should be good enough if you have a top pitching staff. It would definitely be good enough if you could improve that just a little bit.
Instead of improving the offense by picking up 1 or 2 solid bats, Dipoto got rid of Teo, Geno, and Kelenic, and replaced those guys with Garver, Polanco, Haniger, and Urias. Teo and Geno were our 2 most productive players not named Julio. Those moves are 100% on Dipoto.
This team was a lot closer after the past 2 seasons than many seem to realize. All Dipoto needed to do was add a solid bat or 2 and
not get rid of some of our most productive players. That's it. But instead of doing that, he got rid of 3 of our most productive hitters and replaced them with a bag of dicks.
This heinously bad offense, this season, is 100% on Dipoto. He dismantled an offense that was close to top 10 in runs scored, and replaced it with arguably the worst offense in MLB. No manager is going to be successful if that is what they are given to work with. Servais got sabotaged by his own GM, and now he's being scapegoated by that same GM.
Don't get me wrong, I'm fine moving on from Servais (although this mess is clearly not his fault). But there is no way in hell Dipoto should be allowed to keep his job at this point. Not after he botched this past off season as badly as he did."
And I'll add, last off season and especially the one before that were absolutely the right time to sign a big $$$ free agent or 2. This team would very likely be a true WS contender right now if they had done that.
