I know you said "Etc" but it deserves adding the Leonard Williams and Ernest Jones trades. Absolutely transformative to this defense and they were risky. If JS failed to follow through and get them re-signed, he would have been giving up a second-rounder each for a half-season rental. Instead, well, we're the #1 defense in 2025.

Ernest Jones was acquired for a 4th and Jerome Baker (remember that guy??), which makes that trade even better 😀

Oh, that's right. Boy, Baker was a joke. MacDonald really had a couple of misfires in his first year before getting things right.

So, for all of those who were calling for his head on the chopping block, how do you feel now??
I don't remember if I ever called for his firing, but I did turn into a Schneider critic/skeptic around 2017. I definitely thought, at the very least, he needed to reevaluate his scouting department.

But I must admit, I was wrong, and for my transgressions, I shall sentence myself to 40 lashes.

100%!!!

The colaboration between JS and MM is what I thought JS and Pete had...until I realized they didn't. MM knew the horses he had at ILB couldn't do the job and JS went to work. Amazing how well JS moves over the past couple years have worked out.

they'll still find something.. it never ends same with those who dislike players.
THIS

Like it would physically hurt someone to just say "I was wrong"

Hawks win on Sunday: Well, it was the defense, it's not like he did anything! Or........let's see if Sam can win a Super Bowl!200

This man deserves any and all credit coming his way.

It’s long past due.

His vision and leadership is spoken about universally within the organization and has been for years.

He got his shot and rode it all the way to the NFCCG in year two.

Notice how position groups (ahem O Line) issues that have been talked about for a greater part of a decade are no longer mentioned? Yea, me too.

Thank you John. This has been one hell of a fun run for us fans.

I had the feeling that when Pete was in charge of the draft and with trades, character issues were overlooked, perhaps because Pete felt that he was such a good people person, that he could overcome these problems if the talent was there. Best examples would be Malik McDowell, Percy Harvin, Jamal Adams and Geno. I think Mike Macdonald and the success Schneider has had with this team has made it clear that character matters.

If John can draft like he has the last couple of years for the next 2-3 we might have what we should have had in the 2013 era. John is the best GM in football hands down. Hope they give him a lifetime contract.

Even if Seahawks win it all this season, I can't wait to see who we draft this April. John is that good.

BINGO!!

Pete was good when the talent he was picking from the draft he played with or against in college and knew of it.

Once he was removed from the college world for a while the quality of drafted dropped immensely.

Once JS was given the reigns by Jody our drafts started hitting more frequently. Johns scout team did great work and He himself I have no doubt follows college pretty close as well.
I've said exactly the same thing. When he first arrived, Pete had an intimate knowledge of players in the college ranks as they either played for/against him, were someone he recruited, or that he had contacts with others within the CFB ranks whom he could rely on for opinions. Of course, I have no concrete evidence to support my theory other than the fact that further he got away from his CFB experience, the worse his personnel decisions got.

That and I do think that the game has past Pete by, and his performance in his last years with us and this season in Las Vegas is evidence of such a travesty.

There was people (mostly Geno fans) absolutely itching to blame JS after week 1 this year for the Geno and DK trades when we lost and the Raiders/Steelers won. They've gone very quiet.

Some will come crawling out the woodwork if the next game or 2 don't go right.
