A new QB is a gamble however you play it. Darnold has gotten better, significantly better, over the past 3 years. He had some good games and bad games in Carolina but I don't think anyone would argue he's at the same level now as he was then. So... MMac and JS think he can continue to get better. It happened with Geno, not so much with DLock. To me, it seems like a better odds than a high draft pick with no track record against an NFL D.. or, at least, a wash. My opinion: Darnold won't be the reason the Seahawks win or lose games this year. The D will win several and the OLine might lose a few. Darnold has shown he can win at the end at Lumen. It sure seems like there is some potential here. What else can we ask for?

If the mean average expectation of wins for the Hawks in 2025 is 9-8 as example….

Sam = 2 extra wins
OL = 2 losses
D = 2 wins

The math suggests 11-6

If it's 11 wins, that would be enough to be a regular in the playoffs.

Then the next step is to see if Sam can do enough to help the team win a game or two, as I'm sure Sam would have a chip on his shoulder after last season's embarrassment against those LA Sheep.
