I've been to Oakland, San Fran, Seattle and San Diego to watch the Seahawks and the one consistent was that there are crappy fans and fights everywhere for every team. Then you add in drinking and people who have no life but some football game and you get these types of incidents. I feel bad for the guy and his girlfriend (but I wasn't there and I have no idea what led up to this. As the saying goes, there is always two sides to the story, but the instigators need to be held accountable in a court room), but if anyone thinks Seattle is the epicenter for crappy fans they are sadly mistaken. Hell, last year when I was leaving the 49ers, Seahawks game in San Fran there was a group of guys (yes, drunk) out by the cars looking to fight anyone wearing Seahawks gear. Being a big (not fat) guy they avoided me and my friends and went after a guy with his girlfriend behind us a few groups back. Myself and two others from my group (who were Niners fans) and a group of other Niners (yep Niners have some good fans) fans put and end to that crap quick. Crappy people are crappy people.

I love going to football games and supporting the Seahawks, but unfortunately you will have to deal with all kinds of PEOPLE no matter what.

I'll wait for more details on this. I'm not saying it didn't happen, and if it did it's disgusting, however:

1. I've never seen an 'assualt' of any kind in my tenure of going to dozens of seahawks games over the years. Not saying they don't happen but they also don't happen enough to just randomly have some dude and his wife get in a couple cheap shots and run away either. If they do happen they are either or both alcohol and emotionally fueled, so I'm not sure how they get in a couple quick hits and book it.

2. I could imagine one drunk person maybe getting out of line but a couple just randomly picking out one female saints fan, and taking turn to get two hits in, then returning to their seats? Weird.

3. I read on black and gold that they were arrested after returning to their seats. Confused. If she went to the bathroom and this happened along the way, and managed to follow these people back to their seats in a stadium of 70,000 people ?

4. There were TONS of saints fans at the game. Probably the most repped team I've seen in the clink since Dallas last year. You would have had to have some balls to just randomly assault a fan for no reason, as not only the other saints fans around would have jumped in but I know first hand as a hawks fan, myself and literally every other human being I know on the planet would have pulverized one of our own fans for attacking a woman for no reason.

I dont want to cast any doubts on the story but IMO a much more likely scenario is she caught an elbow in the eye on the way to the bathroom in the throng of people, were already on edge about their team getting beat down, were probably being verbally heckled (as they should at an opposing team's stadium, Sorry - you deserve it just as I do wearing my hawks jersey into enemy territory), and took all of that emotion and created a scenario in their heads where they were targetted and assaulted rather than accidentally elbowed in the eye.

If it's a confirmed assault, I'll be the first to apologize for any doubts. I'd be one of the first people to jump in and defend and opposing team's fan if they are being assaulted at our stadium. I'm also going to be the first person to give a fan in an opposing teams's jersey crap as well so I'm no "saint".

For those of you following along, the OP on the Saints board has posted an update. Fairly self-revelatory IMO, but as always, draw your own conclusions.

At current we are in Police Report limbo. But that will change soon, as the attorney is a female fiery redhead. We all know where that goes.

Although NOT an indictment of the entire fan base of the Seahawks, in my last THREE trips to games in Seattle, I have, each time, witnessed opposing fan abuse to the likes that I have NEVER seen in NOLA. EVER.

I maintain MY opinion that Seahawks fans, having no history of a brush with greatness (Super Bowl Victory) are easy to get worked into a lather with a couple wins.

Keep watching. Seattle will be the next instance of "fan beaten to death outside the stadium".

Thanks for the concern of most of you on this board.

This guy's vitriol for anything and everything to do with Seattle just makes his story smellier and smellier. If we're so bad, why let his little woman and her terminally-ill friend fly thousands of miles by themselves to go to such an environment?

I mean holy hell, he's trying to use our lack of a SB title as an excuse for mob behavior after we trounced the Saints? Maybe if we lost in horrible fashion. Maybe. Some people are just a-holes though, and it's unfortunate that they represent the collective just because they wear a logo, but it's even dumber to judge that collective based on one individual's actions.

Yea, sorry, now I'm starting to question this guy a bit. I also like when people say things like NEVER and EVER when describing something as subjective as fan abuse (physical or verbal). I've seen both types of abuse at all four stadiums I've been at (including Seattle).

He goes to 3 games and witnesses 'fan abuse' each time?

I've been to literally dozens of games and never once witnessed fan abuse outside of verbal heckling you'd expect.

HUM.

no opinion. just.

"HMM".

I retracted my apology at the Saints forum.

Last thing I expected was blowback from my fellow .NET-ers.

I'll chalk it up to different eras... different life experiences... different morals.

Different eras? I was born in 1943.

You do this ass kissing act and include the rest of us, and you didn't expect any blowback? If you want to speak for yourself, more power to ya, but you don't EVER speak for me. Thank you.

Well, *something* must have happened. Eyes don't shine themselves. But the story as told is definitely lacking in detail.

If it's true, she/they needed to notify the authorities at the game ASAP. They were standing by and happy to help. Famously, SPD (?) dressed up as Niner fans earlier this year to try to instigate some Hawk violence. Doesn't seem to have worked.

Otherwise, posting allegations and vague threats of vengeance on a Saints board is NOT the correct venue for it. If no charges were filed, why not? You have to wonder.

Funny that the first thing he did at 2 AM was to fire up the innernet, log onto blackandgold.com and share it wit all da WHO DATS. This guy clearly has his priorities out of whack.

Maybe it's just me, but if my SO were assaulted at a game, the furthest thing from my mind we be to jump on here in my underwear to tell you clowns about it.

Yeah, not buying it anymore. I have only been to about four games in my 24 years of Seahawks fandom and I have never experienced any type of violence or fan abuse. Sorry, Mr. Hardass Alaska, who makes fun of fiery red-headed female lawyers, you are either causing the problems or you have the worst luck of any visiting fan ever.

If there has been no police reports about anything like this, they don't know names and they're getting lawyered up - HA, great. Have fun wasting your money. I hope you get some travel expenses in there too to drive that bill up. I'm assuming they're waiting to hear back from SPD about their police report. My guess is no one was arrested and/or ID'd.

It's going to be pretty interesting when some curious Saints fan wanders in here and then runs back to B&G to alert the masses.

I can't believe what I'm reading. This thread makes me sicker than the original offense. Somebody gets assaulted by our fans, and our reaction is that they are lying, or they must have provoked it? Really?

Unfortunately, I can't afford anything better than the cheap seats, and I have seen these things all too often at our stadium, and much worse. Sorry for you folks in the club level, this stuff happens often.

There are quite a few 12's at the games that go looking for fights. I used to hang out with several of them. The growth of a rabid fanbase has consequences. We're not dealing with the highest common denominator.

If you think Seattle folks are too classy for this, you need a reality check. If you are somehow blaming this assault on the victim, you need to have your ass kicked.

It sounds like complete BS, this is the info from one of his posts on page 2 of his thread on Black & Gold. If the couple were arrested as he states, there would be a police report. I'm sure the news would be covering it with the attention the Hawks are getting now in the media as well. I think he has a bone to pick with Seattle, and is using this as an excuse to fan the flames or gather attention. Something...

The offending couple were arrested after returning to their seats. Or at least they were whisked away by the cops.

I have my wife looking for names today. I want names.

Thanks for the kind comments.

Dunno, seems like selective reading to me. Most of what I'm seeing pretty much echoes your thoughts. I didn't see "Seahawks fans are too classy to do this" really any place in the thread. There's nothing at all wrong with being skeptical when we don't know the whole story, especially when the Saints OP has such an obvious hate-on for Seattle.

Is it pretty high up there on your horse? This story reeks of pathological lying.

I think the Seahawks should sue this guy for libel.
