I’ve heard Indy fans argue that if Luck was on the 2013 team we would have still won the Super Bowl, which is hilarious.

Luck would have thrown 2-3 interceptions to keep Peyton in the game. And wouldn’t have caught fire until maybe the 2nd half. Russell will never get credit for it but he really helped to control that game. Converted 3rd downs, trusted his defense, and scored TDs. Never allowed the Broncos defense to gain momentum.

Sometimes the QBs that win do the things that aren’t flashy

Why the hell are so many people straight up psycho about this? There are literally multiple memes about the joke that this is.

Because it speaks to NFL fan culture, and society. Luck is the golden boy without actually accomplishing anything. He gets praise and adulation without having to actually PROVE it consistently. Those opinions shape how players are treated and perceived in this league. If you want to get even deeper with it, it’s everything many resent about who gets recognized for hard work.

Compared to Russell Wilson. A guy who’s beaten all the odds at his height, has NEVER missed a game, makes accurate throws, clutch, model face of a franchise, perennial playoff contender with moving parts around him. And all he got for most of his career was dismissiveness of his accomplishments. And of his excellent play. All we saw instead was nitpicking and those who consistently placed their bias ahead of facts.

Yeah, it's real simple to just say x player would have won, even w/zero to prove that to be truth.

Pretty simple to break down Lucks career.

He came to the Colts as Jesus, Irsay just forgot to get him his disciples yet he was still asked to perform miracles and do everything himself.

They were so wrapped up in that he was the Savior and second coming of Manning that they misused the resources they had to build him a team to do it with.

Funny Archie Manning was in that same situation in New Orleans for his career, and it was an expansion team. and it was Peyton they were trying to replace in Indy.

It's like Lord Rodgers. Everyone knows he actually floats in mid air to the games...…...

Are you certain?

I heard he walks across Lake Superior to practice so often that he demanded they rename it to Lake Inferior. :stirthepot:

.........and 145 million dollars and #6 on Forbes's list of highest paid athletes.

I think sometimes we as Hawk fans overblow the disrespect Russell takes. Maybe early on in his career.......but any residual disrespect he gets is a very very small minority of hacks like Pete Prisco that can't admit they were wrong.

The fact is Russell gets a LOT of love now.

I always loved Luck's game too, he just happened to get drafted by a dysfunctional franchise and endured far more injuries than Russell that cut his career short. If he had been healthy and won a SB like Russell, we'd still be having this debate for the rest of their careers.

I'm just now seeing the Colts are letting him keep $20 million that he should
by all rights be giving back since he didn't finish his contract.
I'm curious if by doing this do they take a cap hit for it?He's still getting paid
like he's playing...Dysfunctional franchise is correct :34853_doh:
