Because Pete was Russ's enabler. Wrong on him for giving in and again, placing his favorite player above the team. Shane should havr never been hired. Schotty should have never been fired.

But Waldron... i hope it makes folks appreciate what the current Seahawks QB had to overcome for 2 years just to make us competitive.

Waldron is a hack.
Russ didn’t pick Waldron Pete did.

Russ picked him. Pete had john sign him.
I don’t think that’s true. I think they asked Russ who he liked of the people interviewed. Actually I know that’s what happened.

And then the follow-up question: "Hey Russ, what do you call an ex-Seahawk QB that dresses in blue and orange?"

"You!"

Correct.

Seahawks FO - Hey Russ - who do you want of these guys?

Russ - gimme the guy who knows McVay's offense.

Seahawks FO - His name is Shane Waldron.

Russ - Yup. Him. I want us to be explosive!

10 months later - Boom! But not in the way Russ expected.

[Talking about the Bears offense]

The offensive line is still a mess. Their specialty is pre-snap penalties.

And gang, @Bear-Hawk knows of what he speaks when he mentions offensive linemen whose specialty is pre-snap penalties.

He's a fan of both of the NFL teams that have allowed Germain "False Start" Ifedi to start games and rack up starter-level snap counts "for" them.

^This. It's not like Bears were some offensive juggernauts the last few years.
True, but a good OC can show his value and worth regardless of whether all facets of an offense are clicking or not.

In judging waldron, you can guve him a pass on points scored and explosives and look at his situational awareness and ability to call a coherent game. THAT is his issue.

Focusing on points and 'productivity ' are why he was given a shot in Chicago in the first place.

Bad Oline? Fine, then scheme a plan that doenst involve 4 go routes on 3rd and 4. Or dont have your pass run ration tipping heavy pass if your protection cant hold up.

Mark Schlereth called Waldron out specifically and laid a good bit of the li e's struggles on Shane. And if their line was more efficient that whole offense would look better by a lot.

Williams just hasn't been very good and their offense has been terrible for decades. I do think Waldron is probably struggling a little but not sure it would matter a ton. They have good wr's and that's about it.

Amen

Also of note was the lines of drivel posted by the anti Geno membership club about how it’s not on Shane. Hilarious to see the exact same issues in Chicago meanwhile Geno is playing very good in Grubbs system.
What about someone like me? I have strongly supported Geno for the past three years and still don't think Shane was the primary issue. He's not a great OC, but he's not nearly as bad as some of you make him out to be.

Similarly, Geno has played three games in Grubb's system and had a near-MVP season in Waldron's. Let's pump the breaks a bit on Grubb. The jury is still out on him.

Looks like Waldron is not the problem. The main problem is Seattle doesn’t invest in OL and goes after rubbish players like 42yd Peters, 4th round picks of trash Bradford Olu and Forsythe. JS needs to be fired

Poles does the same thing, but we think he will get serious about the OL in 2025. Maybe the Seahawks will, too.

What is the point of this thread? To stick it to our ex OC? did this make you feel better? Why not focus on the one we have?
