I was not aboard with Wilson's contract ; but I was wrong . He's shown again ; that when most of the team including the coaching staff falls apart ; he has the ability to shoulder the offense and give the team a chance to win . The Hawks would be totally screwed without him taking up the slack . IMO

That’s great and all for his pro bowl selection this year . But we are not the Seattle Wilson’s . We are putting way to much on him . Individuals win pro bowl selections teams win championships and right now we don’t have a team all we have is Russell Wilson It would seem.

400 plus yards!

Tyler with 11 receptions!

And all Carroll wants to do is play conservatively.

Yes, Carroll won a ring but the players play the game.

Yes, Carroll deserves recognition for bringing in the talent, BUT, he does not know how to properly USE it.

An offensive minded head coach could do WONDERS with Russell.

But Carroll’s philosophy is wasting Russell’s abilities.

You’ve all seen it by now. Admit it!

I am with you Legend. And BTW regarding bringing in the talent, that hasn't been great either of late. Some on this board can't admit that the talent evaluation has really fallen off but it is obvious to me and others as well.

In Pete's first few years he had an inside track on the prospects in college due to his recruiting pipeline at USC. As time has gone on, those guys are now long gone out of the college ranks and he has had to change how he scouts.

Obviously its not entirely working.

The Wilson issue is frustrating.

Because we have the one thing that all teams covet, a great QB. Teams literally tank for the opportunity to get one and we refuse to use our Top 5 QB until near the 4th quarter. We are getting better at not doing that, but we still suck at it.

We still try to forcefeed run games and run our own clock down EVEN WHEN WE DON'T HAVE THE LEAD.

And we still refuse to let Wilson be the horse that drives the wagon to get us in the endzone. Wilson should be leading this offense on regular trips into the EZ, not handing off to above average but nowhere near All-Everything RBs for 3/4 of the game.

We literally had our top 5 QB with 30 yards passing AT THE HALF in a game last year. That is inexcusable.

Can you imagine McVay or Shanahan with Wilson? One can dream.
Seems like we always play not to lose.

Yeah, McVay, Shanahan, Andy Reid, Sean Payton and even Josh McDaniels would be able to do some nice calls with him!

But we have Pete Carroll.....smdh.

What an absolute waste of Wilson’s capabilities and talents.

This thread is two weeks out of date. Wilson has had two of the best games of his life in the last two weeks (a couple drives yesterday notwithstanding) and that doesn't happen unless Pete's adequately "loosed" him.

Yeah of all our problems right now, and there are quite a few........misuse of Russell, or Russell in general doesn't even make the top 10.

1. Bad O-line
2. Bad defensive backfield
3. Turnovers
4. Tackling
5. Pete's horrible situational game decisions
6. Special teams
7. Tackling
8. Penalties
27. Russell

Not “out of date” but yesterday’s game absolutely proves and reinforces that Carroll holds the team back by his own choosing.

You can’t win by playing not to lose.

Most football games are won with talent of course but also with sheer effort and determination.

Being passive, timid and overly cautious is a recipe for disaster.

Effort and determination are byproducts of the skill set most teams look for in it's players, it doesn't set anyone apart from winning or losing. Most losing teams had plenty of effort and determination, just like we did yesterday.

The NFL is a coach's league. The Patriot's win year after year because their coach not only demands your effort, but also demands mistake free, distraction free and precision execution in every facet.

Pete does not, he allows his players to "be themselves." This has always led to sloppy penalty marred games where we eek out wins because we have more talent than the other team.

This has worked for Pete when he has more talent, but if you haven't noticed over the past 3-4 years we have not had the elite talent to overcome these sorts of games riddled with too many mistakes and penalties.

Sadly, I don't think Pete will ever demand that level of precision execution mistake free football that Belichick demands in order to make up for areas of the team that lack the talent of his opponents. It's why every year they have major injuries and never skip a beat, they just plug in some dude you're never heard of, and he excels.

Of course you can win by playing not to lose. That's exactly how Saints won in the 4th quarter yesterday by keeping the football safe, eating the clock, and playing prevent D. Teams with the advantage become conservative while it's the teams with a disadvantage that become risk seeking.

How does effort have anything to do with yesterday's game?

Payton would have him throwing for 400 yards every game.

True, also Billycheat has the best prepared team week in and week out, and is always quick to adjust their game plan when things are not working well.

Wilson has been miss-coached and miss-utilized form day one . Carroll still thinks that Wilson is just a cog in his wheel .
