Does anyone have any information on A. Rubin and why the Seahawks went after him this offseason instead of Kevin Williams? This guy is like the Cary Williams of the DL in my opinion. He's not a good backup for Mebane and he's not a very good 3-tech guy either. There's absolutely no pressure coming up the middle of the defense when he's in there. This signing was a huge error this offseason. Should have re-signed Williams. He can back up Mebane and is also a good pass rushing type of DT. The pass rush through the middle has been atrocious.

Kevin Willaims is 35 and signed a one year $1.45 million dollar deal with the Saints.

Rubin is 29 an signed a $2.6 million dollar deal.

Not really sure how this contract could be considered a huge error. At the time this was signed, everyone including myself thought this was a great depth move. The loss of Jordan Hill has really put a burden on the DT's again.

Rubin isn't the problem. D-line depth is the issue. We shouldn't have let McDaniels go and Jordan Hill being injury prone doesn't help either. We went to two Superbowls by keeping our DL fresh in the 4th quarter. That's not the case this year, maybe that's why we are giving away 4th quarter leads.

I think we are having good pressure up the middle, but lack outside pressure. I do not know why Marsh is getting so much playing time. He seems like a slower and weaker rookie Bruce Irvin.

Thanks for the info. He had one sack yesterday but other than that haven't heard much from him. Hill getting injured often doesn't. Mebane was hurt earlier too.

It could've been a money issue along with his age

do not expect Rubin to be a sack guy.
he was signed as a run stuffer. you might consider him a lesser Mebane as mebane isn't much of a sack guy but is made to take on blocks.

If the Seahawks have 99 problems, Rubin ain't one.

Now we're just grasping at straws. He's doing what he was brought here to do. He's not going to show up on the stat sheet, because he's not supposed to.

The bigger issue is Jordan Hill's health. This kid is extremely talented, much more than Clinton McDonald was in 2013. But he gets hurt way too often.
