Not falling down is essentially responsibility #1 for any DB. Probably not the best excuse one could make for him on that play.

In this case, I think Sherm needs to walk away. Roddy White is a well respected player. This is a no-win for Sherm. He looks foolish for talking, will get blasted if he gets beat, and there are excuses in place for White if Sherman shuts him down.

Absolutely agreed. I find Sherm's antics entertaining, but it's a no-win situation for him this week. If he dominates it will be because the Falcons suck and Roddy White has been crippled all season. If he gets beat he'll have gotten beat by a team that sucks and a player that has been crippled all season. I think this is one of those weeks where the smart play for Sherm would have been to be overly-complimentary and effusive in his praise. Not really his style, though.

Did they chat it up after the game? They seem to really not like eachother. I thought the same with Steve Smith but they talked for a bit after the game and seemed friendly

And from what I remember, they hid him on a bunch formation nowhere near Sherman to get that catch. He was not a factor.
