Lol it is so funny to see pundits on Twitter calling this a huge loss for the Seahawks. Even further proof none of these tools really actually watch Seahawk games.

Even if he didn't make many catches defense had to plan for him, now you have Kearse who can quit on you and does not always fight for the ball. Truly a loss. I still remember the first throw in zona where he made the adjustment and got a TD. Damn the injury bug is biting us for sure.Hope he comes back swinging and make an impact next year in Seahawks uniform.

Bring Josh Gordon to Seattle. It's going to cost a lot, but he's worth it.

Rice was coming on a little recently so this is too bad, but as far as impacts go, it's no Breno Giacomini, esp with Harvin ready to return.

We will be diminished, but I think it's something we have the talent and the depth to work around, as opposed to the line.

There ya go. Everybody clamoring for Kearse to take Rice's spot in the lineup:

Congratulation.

Not this way.
BFS doesn't deserve a response for posting that crap.
It was obvious that Rice had something, health wise, that was souring up from game 1 this Season, and people, (myself included) saw it diminishing his abilities to play up to his former greatness.
I think ANYBODY saying that they think we should now be happy to see him sidelined with an injury is firing cheap shots :177692:

Best part is that the Niners didn't pick up Josh Gordon or another receiver. Had me up half the night worrying about it.

Rice was clutch and was super cool to hang w/ those Euro's playing Madden in the preseason but everyone is correct - he's probably gone. Add another jersey to the pile.

He does take attention away from other receivers, so yes this is a loss. Hopefully Harvin comes back soon and quickly gets to full strength. The latest news is that there was a slight setback with his hip on Thursday.

Rice is done here now, can't say his contributions won't be that hard to replace as Kearse was already taking away his snaps.

I think Rice might be done as a pro as he's lost speed and and will have a very long rehab with already wonky knees.

If he stays it will only be on a 'show me' basis as he's been coddled too long here already.

I was thinking the same thing. If his knees were already bad and arthritic, I don't see him recovering in the normal time frame. If he did come back, I'd bet he won't be ready for the season next year. Not sure he's going to recover enough to get his speed back.

It's a bummer to see a man lose his livelihood.

That said, I did not like Rice's apparent lack of competitive spirit. I hope that Kearse will step up live up to our expectations.

Posts like this really bother me. Rice tore his knee and got a concussion playing for this team. Last year, he leaned into a thunderous hit to make a game-winning, franchise-changing catch.

Whatever. This place can be really annoying.

People get on these anti-player bandwagons. It's stupid as hell. Rice has been awesome for us. He hasn't gotten a lot of catches lately because he's a down the field threat and Russell hasn't had ANY time to throw downfield , unless he extends the play by doing his scrambling magic.

People need to think for themselves and not get into a herd mentality about players. It was the same crap a while back about Tate.

You are making some huge assumptions about me. My feelings about Rice's competitiveness are directly developed from seeing him give up on routes. I didn't say he gave no effort whatsoever. Heck, he made a few great plays, but it isn't a highlight reel that makes a player's contribution to his team, it is his entire body of work. In that regard, I tend to agree with those who suggest his value was partly in the attention he drew from the opposition. At the same time, I have been frustrated at times (it seems like every game) by his apparent giving up on some plays. I don't recall which game of the last 3 or 4, but a play stands out in my mind where a ball was thrown to him, and all he had to do was extend for it but didn't. That is what I'm talking about. I personally favor players who are "on" every single play. I don't feel like SR was one of those. Incidentally, when you point an indicting finger at me using the allegation of "herd mentality" while agreeing with another, you are just a member of a different herd. Go Hawks.

Well this sure isn't the best news but I think we can adapt. That trade for Harvin is looking better by the second.

I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't Rice's last game as a Hawk, and definitely not his last NFL game. He's only just turned 27 last month. If other teams aren't willing to sign him and he takes a pay cut, he'll probably end up in the same uniform (unless Baldwin/Kearse step up enormously or Harvin plays lights out Dez/Megatron style).

Rice has needlessly fallen down his last time as a Seahawk. He didn't even need to slam his head into the ground to miss that ball.

He wouldn't get hurt so much if he didnt flop to the ground every play

I've always wanted to make a thread about that. Even wide open TD's like NE and last week vs AZ he fell down needlessly. Kept saying to myself, he's going to get hurt by doing that.

And Kearse dropped one that Russell put right on his hands.

Great. He had better get it going in a hurry.

Deep down, we all knew Rice was going to end this season on IR. There was no way Rice was going to make it through 2 straight full seasons. It's Sidney freakin Rice. I'm not too worried. He was giving us very little this year. He wasn't himself for whatever reason. He was gone next year almost certainly. Now Wilson can grow with WRs who will be here in future seasons.

Any replacement options in free agency? If another receiver goes down its gonna be tough!! I like Tate and Baldwin but it would be nice to have a big man downfield...

The only game I got to go to last year was the Patriots game. I will have always have fond memories of Rice for being able to see that team altering play in person. That Bears catch showed grit as well. We will miss him more than some think.
