How the hell do you tear your ACL diving for a football??? Damn, this guy is unbelievably brittle...

Bring on Percy!

He falls like he's 80 years old, just crashes to the turf with reckless abandon!

couldn't at all be related to the fact that when people have injuries they compensate their gate which often leads to other injuries. no it has to be because he's a bust or something.
PUT CHARLIE (Whitehurst) IN!!!!!

so does the fact his season ended with injury impact cap at all for this year and next?
I'm assuming Sidneys' injury has no impact on the Seahawk cap.

Sidney Rice, who was in his 7th year, is a vested veteran. So .... because he was retained on the 53 man roster thru week one, his salary for this year should have become fully guanteed at that time.

Rice was not our "#1 WR," not even close. Tate has had significantly more targets and receptions this season than Rice as RW's primary option, and even Baldwin (as RW's primary safety valve option) had more catches as well. Rice's role would have diminished even further with the return of Harvin, who is best-suited at the 'Z' receiver spot that Rice was at. Rice had only 15 catches and 3 TD's in half a season of work this year, and had ceased to offer anything in the way of run-after-the-catch ability. He had become little more than a 'stop-and-drop' receiver (catch-and-hit-the-ground). Baldwin would have been a much bigger loss, IMO. I don't see this as a significant loss at all, and its clear that Rice has caught his last pass as a Seahawk, as there's ZERO chance he gets brought back next year with his $8.5M salary due in 2014 and only a $2.4M cap charge in 2014 to release him.

Final catch rate for Sidney Rice in 2013 was only 43%.

Thats toward the bottom among active receivers.

I'm not COMPLETELY kidding when I say I wonder what TO has been up to... I was one of those guys ready to replace Rice but I would have liked to have had a 1st or 2nd round pick coming in to do it.

REGARDLESS, obviously sucks that Rice's Seahawks career likely ends this way. He's had some great contributions and he's played through pain on many occasions. Best of luck to him in the future even if it's not with us

Most of his guaranteed money was paid in 2012.

His cap number is 9.7 mil in 2013, 9.7 mil in 2014 and 10.2 mil in 2015. After this year, he only has 2.4 mil left guaranteed.

His years in Seattle are likely over at the end of the season. He's had a lot of concussions too.

Would have LOVED to see a trade for Josh Gordon, but rumor was that they wanted a first and we've only got $2m in free cap, so not sure it'd be possible?

They need to rollover space for current Seahawks. Really wasn't feasible.

In all seriousness, I'd welcome TO back with open arms. Maybe Swain gets added back?

Don't know about who is out there on practice squads that they might target.

You are all forgetting that he can't be released when he's rehabbing from a game day injury. So an ACL injury is likely going to be into next season getting over. We can not release him until he's ready to play again.

There might be some adjustments can be made if he's through playing for good, but that would be all.

You're speaking of an Injury Settlement, and yes, this is possible.

Yeah, I know. Just mumbling. I'm actually glad that for once we didn't give up a first round pick for another team's WR. We definitely need to focus on WR and OL in the draft though.

God that SUCKS. Rice wasn't having the greatest season to start with and to have it destroyed like that just isn't right. Hope it isnt career ending and I damn sure hope he gets a ring if that were to happen!

Wonder if Sherm is on the Phone to his buddy Fitz yet? Maybe Stephen Williams?

There appears to be some concern that Seattle needs a tall receiver in the mix. Why? Tate goes up and gets jump balls as good as any tall receiver...plus we have tight ends and Kearse.

It's a bummer to see a man lose his livelihood.

That said, I did not like Rice's apparent lack of competitive spirit. I hope that Kearse will step up live up to our expectations.

Posts like this really bother me. Rice tore his knee and got a concussion playing for this team. Last year, he leaned into a thunderous hit to make a game-winning, franchise-changing catch.

Whatever. This place can be really annoying.

People get on these anti-player bandwagons. It's stupid as hell. Rice has been awesome for us. He hasn't gotten a lot of catches lately because he's a down the field threat and Russell hasn't had ANY time to throw downfield , unless he extends the play by doing his scrambling magic.

People need to think for themselves and not get into a herd mentality about players. It was the same crap a while back about Tate.
