“I didn’t see anything, I didn’t hear anything.,” Davis said Tuesday. “I don’t know what went on over there. I wish I could put my finger on it, but I don’t know. All I do know is Ray is a great guy. He’s awesome.

“He’s got great character. Everyone on the team knows that. He’s a guy of good integrity, great character, hard worker, good player, comes to work each and every day.”

That's really great stuff... He didn't see/hear anything. Isn't it OBVIOUS that this whole thing didn't happen. Its a conspiracy. Gotta love the players speaking out... "He's Awesome" Sure he is Vern.

Hey, I don't doubt that tomorrow AM the Hawks could have their own players arrested for something, but i sure in the hell am going to enjoy the roster being intact while I can.

He said (true or not) that he didn't see anything.

He said (true or not) that he supports his teammate.

What were you really expecting him to say?

Were you expecting him to say what Harbaugh said, and if he did, would it just be ignored, dismissed, and minimized here as it was with Harbaugh?

(FWIW he also made it quite clear that he wasn't suggesting nothing happened: "“I don’t know what went on over there. I wish I could put my finger on it, but I don’t know.")

IF Harbaugh's forthcoming actions (if there is any occasion for action on his part) match his words, I will be in sincere admiration of his stance and agree with what he said 100%. But I think you should also understand the "shoiw me don't tell me" point of view from us Seahawks fans here considering what we saw the team do with Aldon last season.

Not sure who you are even addressing with that. Other than defending due process most Niner fans here have hoped this wasn't true for HER sake.

As far as I can remember (and of course someone will probably find one just because I said that) I haven't made any truly football related post on this topic.

EDIT: wait...I remember one where I posted about the likelihood of his release because of it's effect on the salary cap.

Same conversation was hashed out upthread. (Maybe not to satisfaction for anybody, but seemingly to its conclusion.)

As far as i know I'm the only 9ers fan who has made direct reference to the team and the impact of this on its record. I said that if this proves true I'd be much more proud to be a 9ers fan if they sh!tcan him without league intervention than any number of wins, division titles, or more Super Bowls they could possibly achieve. At least in this thread Largent's drive by is as inapplicable as it is irrelevant.

I'm curious, she was physically abused but refused medical attention, claims she is pregnant, is she or is that a story? Party at 2:30 with a bunch of other players around and they don't intervene in an argument to cool things down? I have to wonder how much is speculation and what are the facts.

Dunno...but the cops are saying zilch.

The only thing I've seen confirmed by the police is that the "victim had visible injuries". No idea what that means.

Maybe she had a broken jaw and maybe she had a papercut. No idea.

The amount of press that the incident gets dictates how quickly and how "morally" the team handles it.

Of course, although again, let's name the teams and coaches that have responded accordingly.

The Panthers didn't cut Rae Carruth until a month after he murdered his 8 months pregnant girlfriend. It wasn't until after he fled and the cops found him hiding in the trunk of a car that the team did anything.

Ray Lewis was on trial for murder too and the Ravens never did a thing.

What did the Steelers org personally do to Roethelsberger after multiple rape allegations?

Since 2000 83 NFL players have been arrested for domestic violence. Of those 83 how many starters have had their head coaches unequivocally condemn domestic violence and say their team has zero tolerance for it? How many of them have been voluntarily punished by their teams before the NFL levied a punishment?

Real questions. I hope the 9ers do. It would make me proud of the team I root for, but I'm not going to delude myself into thinking they're any different than anyone else if they don't.

...and how many of them sent possibly their best defensive player to rehab for 5 weeks when they were 1-2 and on the verge of letting the season get away.

Wait this whole time I thought Aldon Smith volunteered to go for his own benefit and it was going help reduce his suspension... now its the team who sent him there because they are such a stand-up organization and truly care about their players?

the wheels on the bus... "spin" round and round.

As for you Popeyejones,

You comparing Smith to Sherman is different.

Sherman had no prior incidents of substance abuse or other issues, and he apparently had a good enough case to win his
appeal. What rehab did he need?

Smith was found unconscious, drunk, in the morning, crashed into friggin tree, with his foot still on the acceleration, with various substances found in his car that weren't his.

This after his Miami incident.

This after getting stabbed, shooting up his own party away, and you think he was sober in that event think again.

Smith needed help, sure they cared to a point, but what it boils down to is that the 49ers were protecting a future investment for the long-term and it was a good PR move for him. Quit acting like the 49ers are some transcending organization that is better than everyone else because it was the right thing to do at that point for Aldon and the entire Organization.

yet on the other...

Cam Inman ‏@CamInman · 9m
SJPD chief issued synopsis of Ray McDonald arrest, says incident occurred at 2 am and "the victim had visible injuries." No further info

Sigh.

I'll be honest with you, it almost sounds like Davis was speaking from a prepared text. It's not what I would call persuasive.

I really do feel bad for some of the Niner fans. Guys like rlkats and box deserve better than what their team is putting out right now.

I know I was embarrassed when we had our rash of PED violations but at least I could tell myself it was only because of the massive influx of players coming through and the huge opportunity to steal a roster spot and potentially a starting role if they could beat out one of the other 1000 players that came through during that time. I could also say hey they got popped in the off season so the adderall kind of makes sense for young adults out partying like it's 1999.

Thankfully we seem to have made it through that faze and it really does match up with the high volume competition theme and to top it all off at least we basically got rid of anyone who tested positive and that includes even for substance abuse.

Niners have to be absolutely hating life right now. Seemingly every time they turn around another player is getting busted and not for something simple or minor. They are getting busted for heinous acts like running over bicyclists and fleeing the scene only to threaten a minor who was trying to do the right thing with brass knuckles, DUI's at double the legal limit while smashing into trees at 7:00am in a residential neighborhood where kids are likely walking to school, weapons charges, smashing bottles over team mates heads and now domestic violence and against a pregnant woman at that. Unbelievable. Imagine all the shit we haven't even heard about.

How anyone can try and defend all that shit is beyond me. It truly is representative of your own character or obvious lack there of.

I see posters on the webzone blaming the pregnant woman and there is zero doubt in my head they would give RM the benefit of the doubt before ever considering his fiance might just be a victim. It's disgusting how easily they are willing to throw her under a bus, pregnant and all.

I have zero respect for that organization or it's thug life players and even less for the fans that continuously try and spin it as if there is nothing to see here our guy is a victim type of shit.

My wife of 32 years (Puerto Rican raised in Harlem) would come at me fists flying, finger nails swiping and with all her might when she got mad but I never laid a hand on her, never bruised her not even her wrists and there were many times I have had to restrain her. There is absolutely no justification for bruises on a woman's neck and arms. His team mates may lie for him and he may get away with it like other Niners have but he is still a piece of shit that needs to have the shit knocked out of him not be protected by his team mates and fans because he is part of their team. That makes them as big of pieces of shit as he is.

Slow clap, 10% of the words I needed and 20 times the impact. My writing skills suck.

Excellent post PH.

If found guilty the 49ers are gonna have bigger issues...

Someone probably already posted this but,

"I'll be very clear," Harbaugh said on the KNBR Morning Show. "You ask me how I feel about domestic violence. I can be very clear about that. If someone physically abuses a woman and/or physically or mentally abuses or hurts a child, then there's no understanding. There's no tolerance for that."

When asked if he would not allow a player guilty of domestic violence on his team, Harbaugh answered, "Yes, we would not. We can be very clear."

Harbaugh is Coach, not GM, Baalke I think would have to do this and removing a player from the team without a replacement lined up may not be Harbaughs decision. Although it could bring some interesting reading.

The operative word here is "guilty." Harbaugh is probably banking on the legal process dragging out long enough to get McDonald through the season while claiming to take the high road about domestic abuse. Most of the team was at that party so I'm pretty sure he knows by now what really happened so if it turns out that McDonald actually did assault his baby mama and Harbaugh let him keep playing anyway then he's a two bit hypocrite.

Right now Harbs is counting on the legal system taking its time. Per his words he will let the process do its thing before acting. The thing is, in that court the process is as shady as it gets. The police arrested and booked McDonald, the questionable stuff comes later. The noted court will never put Harbadouche in the situation to actually act on his words. Not this court.

The spin will get real heavy later and this will be a blip. I have little doubt of that.

Dunno why any of the spin guys have yet to imply that the "victim" could of accidentally walked into Rays hands to be strangled or slapped/punched. You know good old Ray was just telling some war stories when that silly girl walked in at the wrong time.

While we are at it lets assassinate her character also. Why is a pregnant young lady up at 3am involved in a house party? Seems like a terrible future mother. For all we know good old Ray was trying to get her to go upstairs and rest to protect the baby. She resisted him and as he tried his best to do what was right accidentally hurt her. She then overreacts and calls the cops. All because good old Ray was looking out for a fetus. Deplorable, for any of you to think Ray would harm a fetus.

***Ray's lawyers just called me and want me to help represent him with my side of the story***
