Another 4 game series against a division foe. Welcome back Geno!

Probables:

Rocker 4-4 vs Kirby 5-5

Leiter 7-6 vs Gilbert 3-4

DeGrom 10-3 vs Castillo 8-6

Corbin 6-7 vs Evans 4-4

End of another 17 game stretch without a day off.

I'm very curious what they are going to do with Williamson. He's too damn good on defense to just not have him out there. Shoot, throw him in at 2B or SS. JP isn't contributing at all. Or hopefully they DH Suarez a few times a week. Suarez is a good defender, but not Williamson level.

Yep. Does seem like we keep running into teams when they're red hot. Maybe the M's should, oh I don't know........start playing some good ball? They are absolutely capable.

Unfortunately, while his BA is decent, literally all his other hitting numbers are well below league average. This team is struggling offensively and Williamson is one of our least productive hitters. I posted the following a week or so ago, and his numbers have only gotten worse.

I like Ben, but he is basically Brendan Ryan at this point. Offers nothing offensively but is huge defensively.

I still think they find ways to get him in the lineup. My guess is we see Geno DH some. Also think Ben could play some SS and gives JP days off. My guess is they try to get him in the lineup at least a couple times a week.

Hitting a hell of a better than JP, and playing much better defense. JP isn't getting a pass from me. Period.

How much more is our current DH hitting over Ben? if not much more, why not just DH Suarez? I always thought he played a decent 3b, when he was here, but I think I read his 3b defense has been some what shakey of late.

It's unfortunate, because his play on defense is so good, but I wouldn't use Williamson as anything more than a late inning defensive replacement at this point. He's approaching 300 AB's at the major league level and his already very poor production is only getting worse.

I'm not trying to bash the guy. I like Williamson a lot, and I absolutely love his defense. But you just can't continue to have a guy in the lineup everyday that's contributing next to nothing at the plate. 🤷‍♂️

Unpopular opinion but Young is worse than Williamson at this point. Limited range and his bat isn't any better than Williamson's. Polanco has to play the field to help our lineup. Not sure if Geno is up for it, but him at DH on the days Cal catches is the best thing for us. Let him play 3B when Cal DH's.

JP isn't getting a pass from me either. He's been awful for like a month now. If we had a huge upgrade for JP, like we now do for Williamson, I'd be in favor of replacing him. But as far as I'm aware, we don't. 🤷‍♂️

Seems like damn near everyone on the team has been struggling lately. It's been pretty bad since the break. But yeah, it's been especially rough lately for both of the rooks and JP.
Which is 3/4 of our infield...lol. So crazy they all flop together. Psycho team.
