-- If there's been any doubt about Lynch's health, there really shouldn't be. His output today was in direct correlation to not being 100 percent. The fact that he has probably not been 100 percent all year is astounding given that he signed that big contract only to come out and have the best statistical year of his career. Beast. Mode.

-- I'm not only proud of this team, but I'm also proud of the 12's that came out and supported the team from every corner of the nation. When the Seahawks come home tonight, 12 will be lining the streets in Sea Tac and VMac cheering them for such a great season, just like they did when they left to head to Atlanta. Best. Fans. Period.

-- Dear Russell. I love you man. Please be ours for the next 12 years. (See what I did there?)

-- Pete, you ignorant slut. I love you too but sometimes your emotional coaching drives me NUTS.

-- Dear Paul Allen. Please throw billions of dollars at John Schneider so he never, ever, ever, ever stops being our GM.

-- I love my DVR. It has single-handedly kept my blood pressure in check. (Those of you with DVRs know exactly what I mean).

-- Thank you GOD for finally unleashing Zack Miller! Previous years he was simply asked to block. Now that he's being paid to do what he's capable of doing it's a beautiful thing.

-- If we want to win the Super Bowl, we need to acquire a TRUE pass rush. Clemons is good, but we need elite. Irvin is not the answer. He can help, just like Clemons can help, but we need a sick, sick man at DE that lives to destroy QBs on every pass play. We need Michael Sinclair ala 1998. We need John Randle. We. Need. Better.

-- I'll think of more later. Now it's time to go watch more TV coverage and cry in my soup.

That's my #1 for this off season. That unblockable, angry defensive end that every QB has nightmares about. Put that guy on our team and we're in the superbowl this year instead of losing a close one to the falcons imo

I'm hoping an off-season of training and preparation will mold Irvin into more of the player we want him to be. We knew from the get-go he was almost entirely raw talent, no need to give up on him now. That said, we still need more help on the defensive line.

The biggest thing that sticks in my craw following this loss is Pete not taking 3 at 13-0. So frustrating. Did he already forget that our comeback against the Skins started w/ a FG? There was so much time left in the game, we needed the points there to build some momentum. Instead, the half ended at 20-0. Ugly.

Nice Random musings. I agree on every point. You cant go on the road and make mistakes and expect to win. Leaving sure points on the field will kill you. Always. I truly feel we have the better team. But not today. The point you made is what hurt us. We couldnt pressure their qb. Can you imagine what a couple of sacks wouldve done for us? Or at least a couple of play altering pressures. I love Beast Mode but I see him regressing in the next two years. By then Robert Turbin should really be ready to shoulder the load.

One thing I'd like to add, I hope Seattle is able to add another piece to our already badass defensive backfield. Atl prove this today. We missed a lot of tackles that we normally make, not to take credit from Atl. They won.

Im so proud of this team though. They played hard all year and seemed truly bothered by the fact they lost this game that they felt they shouldve won. Coaching needs to get better, by that I mean game time decisions. Not taking a field goal when youre only down 13 points? Prevent defense when the opposition only needed 40 or so yards to kick a game winning field goal seemed pretty stupid to me at the time (and still does).

I cant wait for the draft! GO HAWKS!!

Agree, except that Lynch's production IMO had little to do with his 'not being 100%,' and a lot to do with not finding the gaps he's used to. He had a bad game, the Falcons D had a good game against him. Lynch has been 'not 100%' all year, and has been incredible. No different this game.

I definitely agree that DT is also on the menu. We need to upgrade our DL period. DE, DT...Red Bryant, I love ya man, I really do, but you are not working like we need you to. That's not all your fault. Injuries suck. But you need to be moved to a different position...Or something.

I disagree. I think the toll of his injuries finally showed up in this game. Cumulative over the course of a season where he was tremendous, and taking tremendous hits.

Bad back, bad foot...Yeah, today was not his best day and it's all due to the warrior running on empty.

Everyone is looking for a demon of a DE. Picking late in the round wont help too much. JS will have to find one his way.

There were too many close games this year. Hopefully the offense takes off next year and we just take teams to the woodshed.

I am looking forward to the next draft.

Filthy DE and WR and we are money. Like my neighbor said today..."You have decent receivers but they don't scare anybody in the red zone."

Just want to throw my two cents in:

I agree we need better pass rush, but I'm not ready to say that Bruce Irvin is not the answer. We've seen 1 season of Bruce Bruce. Give the dude a shot.

Aldon Smith is the outlier when it comes to pass rusher development. It usually takes a pass rusher a year or two to develop. JPP recorded 4 sacks in his first season. Those 4 sacks came in 2 games. Today? He's that elite, unblockable type of pass rusher that you speak of.

Of bigger concern to me: interior pressure from a DT, and as Kearly mentioned in an earlier post, Red Bryant. I love big Red, but having him on the field means that the Hawks are essentially rushing 3 on any given down as he is NO threat for pass rush. IF we are going to move forward with this strategy, then we better be LOCK DOWN in the run game, and we were not. Not today, not for second half of the year. I think Red was playing hurt most of the year, so it's possible he could come back with a vengeance, and he deserves the opportunity - but I would like to see us explore the possibility of a more traditional 4-3 front 4, while retaining the LEO.

I just think Irvin needs to put on muscle weight if he wants to make a true impact as a sack specialist in the coming years. Dude is too skinny and gets pushed out of the play by the OL like, ALL THE TIME. I get that we need to give the kid a chance, and I am more than happy to, but let's be practical about who he is and can be. This kid is green, green. if talent was all you needed to succeed, every player in the NFL would succeed. You need more. In Irvin's case, he needs to bulk up and continue learning the position and the game at this level. I'm happy that he is on our team but certainly not content. Nor is he I am sure.

We need a Lynch-type personality with a DE's body playing the position. Irvin is a one-trick pony (speed) that is just not enough. We need more. He's a great asset in a secondary role but I'm thinking primary...A DOMINANT force at the position.

Pete loves his schemes. Red is probably not going anywhere. This is what you get with a passionate mad genius--the good and the bad. The good is (for example) Richard Sherman in the 5th round, the bad is only one player on the line able to really generate any rush, given the love for the huge 5-tech. The same things we love about Pete's system are connected to things we don't like, because it is a system.

The good news is even without that rush, with better execution, this team could still beat anybody.
