Personally I think he's better than Geno! Let's hope he starts week #1!

Mannion vs our present and past QB, Brady's there to show combine score are not evidence for great QB. A few interesting bits:

Sean had high Wonderlic, small hands, higher ball velocity than Russ - strong arms? and dude was slower than Brady in 10 and 20 yards split, 20 yards shuttle and 3 cones. That made him very slow.

Great breakdown. But what someone does on game day, again, is what truly matters. Guys like Brady and Wilson get results. Lock and Smith? Not so much.

All these combine stuff are useful, in the sense that they gave teams a peek at what the player could physically do. Can they do it on game days? that is a different topic.

Mannion's combine hinted that he is a tall smart QB with very strong arms that could zip the ball at high velocity, but he is also very slow and not nimble at all. What all these stat couldn't tell us? His mechanics, footwork, how quick is his release, his ball touch, can he read defense?

Dude sucks. Why do people keep signing him?

Sign Chris Steveler:

But, when final cuts came Tuesday at 4 p.m., Streveler didn’t stick around as a backup to Zach Wilson. The Jets cut him loose.

In the preseason, Streveler was 24-of-33 for 277 yards, with five TDs, one INT, no sacks, a 124.6 passer rating, but he’s likely headed elsewhere because it’s unlikely he’ll go unclaimed on waivers and re-sign with the Jets.

Jets cut ‘greatest preseason’ star QB Streveler

I am puzzled by the signing, to me, one either signs someone that could step in and play, ala Nick Foles; or, someone to develop as future starter/trade asset, ala JimmyG. Mannion does not any of these.

3rd Round RAMS pick

Tall, rhythm thrower who shows an ability to play with confidence and accuracy when used as a game manager within an offense featuring a strong rushing attack. Mannion needs plays to stay on schedule or his confidence becomes shaky and the turnovers start rolling in. Mannion lacks arm talent to carry an offense, but has enough ability to become a capable backup.

Weaknesses

Tempo of his play is a concern

Slow in takeaway from center, setup and getting through progressions

Carries ball low in the pocket, allowing defenders to swipe at it

Finished career with 30 fumbles and 54 interceptions

Poise and mobility in pocket are below average

Not considered a play-extender outside of pocket

Drops eyes and misses throwing windows when he senses pressure around him

Decision making greatly influenced by level of pressure around him

Fails to throw with adequate zip when feet aren't under him and he doesn't step strongly into throw

Hmm didn't he beat Seattle?I seem to remember Goff was hurt.
I wish. The only start he had as a Rams player was a meaningless Week 17 game against the 49ers in 2017 when McVay pulled all the starters. I don't hold that performance against him, but I never saw quality play from him during his 4 years with the team, even in preseason. The Seahawks saw enough to cut him loose last year. Re-signing him now is a mistake.
