Young doesn't fit Grubbs's offense at all. The reporter must have thought, "Seattle had a short QB once. Maybe they want another one."

Of the teams mentioned, only the Dolphins make sense. None of the other contenders will want Young's contract, even as a hedge against an aging QB. Miami at least has the Tua conundrum weighing on their minds, and Young has a skillset that might work in that offense. I mean, Young is basically a smaller, less-dynamic version of Tua. They have the weapons to run a horizontal offense successfully. It makes sense.
Wilson is short, but his not small at 230lbs, big hands too at 10"+. Couldn't say that about Young.

JFC, this isn't happening.
This article is just some delusional clickbait & anybody thinking he's some kind of franchise QB is also delusional.

There's been a lot of tape and commentary on the tape for the first 2 games of Bryce Young this year.

I like this one the most.

This video notes that Bryce young:

1. Drops back with shoulders parallel to the line of scrimmage / hashmarks - like waking backwards - and not with shoulder perpendicular like other QBs. This is likely because he can't see well and needs/wants more vision for the field.

2. When he throws he goes up to his tip-toes to release the ball on many occasion - this alters the mechanics and causes him to throw in a bad and inaccurate way.

3. He doesn't step up / forward into the pocket when he can and instead keep going back and actually is causing himself to get sacked (making the O-line look like it's their fault but it's not).

4. Other issues with Young are noted in this short vid.

Another video showed him / his eyes looking down at the pass rush instead of up at his receivers.

Look at realistically, which round is the average 3rd string QB drafted in?
Total guess, I would say 4th round. If you have a more accurate round, let me know.

So is he worth a 4th round pick? I can see the potential value, but I would lean towards no.

Waste of time and energy
Granted the majority of these throws shown here are from his rookie campaign, he does have more upside than Howell imo and could serve as a better contingency if Geno were to go down for any reason.

What upside? Bryce Young does not have more upside than Howell. Bryce Young's arm is mediocre and he's not exactly fast either. He's also 5'10 with a slight frame. In addition to this, Young's pocket presence sucks. Bryce Young also has issues seeing the field from the pocket due to his height. He doesn't step into pockets and he throws from a weird platform on his tippie toes.

Young just isn't an NFL QB. Now, before you throw out Russell Wilson or Murray -- you have to keep one thing in mind. Those two QB's are the exception to the rule, and they're also extremely athletic and rely on that aspect. Wilson in particular has huge hands, and a crazy wingspan. He also possessed elite athleticism on top of all that. Bryce Young is backing out of pockets because he can't see, just like Wilson. The difference here is Wilson could pull that off due to his crazy scrambling abilities and his improvisational skills.

I agree ^

As for the first round dart throwing picks, I found this:

How many 1st round QBs are busts?

The results were eye-opening, albeit not surprising. A whopping 44.4 percent of first-round quarterbacks drafted in those “quarterback rich” classes ended up in the “disappointment” category.Apr 12, 2024

Every QB Caroline has out under center for the last god knows how many years has been awful.

Both Mayfield and Darnold are looking great at their current teams. Young is 23, was obviously great at college and has shown some glimpses as a pro.

Sure he is undersized and that might mean he never develops into a top tier QB. But a couple of years behind someone like Geno and who knows. For a mid round pick I think you should absolutely take a flier, especially given he has 3 years left on his rookie contract, and Carolina would absorb most of it, so you end up with a potential QBOTY for a very cheap outlay. You would be crazy not to go for it. But Carolina would be even crazier to let it happen.

So trade? Like the Panthers send us Young and Lewis, they pay 1/2 of Lewis salary and we give them a 5th rounder. I’d be down. Our guards are bad, and Grubb is a qb guru.

I don't know why we'd be mentioned as a possible landing spot for Young. We already have a reclamation project who played relatively well in the preseason in the form of Sam Howell who's waiting for an opportunity. Why would we trade something of value for another such project?

I'd prefer the Mariners get a look at him. And that's without knowing whether he ever played baseball or not.

While I think Young can have a good career, I’m riding with Geno until the wheels fall off.

Fellow .netizens, I was once on the ‘QBOTF’ train…wanting us to draft guys (still like A. Richardson but definitely happy we grabbed 🥄).

But….we have one helluva QB right NOW. Nothing wrong with preparing for the future. Geno would be then perfect guy, mechanically speaking, to sit behind.

With that said, I’m not investing anything else QB wise unless it’s a new contract for Geno.

**I know the article was click-bait.

Just wanted to reiterate that we have a Top 7…perhaps Top 5…QB playing his ass off. Call me crazy but even at Geno’s age, I believe his best is yet to come.
