I’ve been a Seahawks fan since Coach Knox. Been though some pretty lean times, and some absolutely amazing times. Grubbs brings an inventive, creative, and deceptive plan to this offense I’ve normally been jealous of.

Chuck Knox was ground and pound with an extremely solid defense. Control the clock, take a few deep shots down the field, but rely on Curt Warner, etc. We had middling coaches in between until Holmgren. Great offensive coach that relied on precision, not exactly creativity. Basically, an effective West coast offense…for those of you who remember that scheme. Matty H. was perfect for the scheme. Same with Shaun Alexander. The Seahawks were raw-dogged in SB40. Seattle had their opportunities, but it’s hard to win against two teams at the same time. Sorry…

Then…Pete. Love the guy. To my soul. But…little to no creativity on the offense. A wheel route to Marshawn was mind blowing. Defense first. Protect the ball. BTW…Marshawn 100% deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. He carried this team for years. Russ was a’ight, but Marshawn made the clock tick.

This, though. It seems different. This is what I’ve always wanted from an OC. Not stupid calls to play to egos like Bevell. No. Play to the strengths of the players. Call plays to test the defense, then capitalize. Grubbs did that tonight against Detroit. He learned and adjusted. I fully trust MM with getting this defense in line, regardless of the injuries, which were brutal tonight.

Personally, I’m filled with hope and confidence in this staff. Player injuries happen, and if we had a couple of defensive lineman healthy, it might have been different.

We have the potential of something special...

Yeah, Grubb makes a bonehead call from time to time, but that's just his college side cropping up. Some things they do in college you just don't get away with in the pros. But, he can scheme guys open and he can switch on the fly from run heavy to pass happy when he needs to, and vice versa too. He actually has some running plays in his arsenal that are more sophisticated than student body left or right.

He's compensating for some inferior OL play fairly well, too.

Every play-caller is also facing championship-level defensive players on the other side of the line of scrimmage at one position or another. Not every play will be perfect in execution, even if it's the right call for the down, distance, conditions and opponent. But Grubb showed a lot of creativity last night.

And... when was the last time a Hawks QB threw that many passes in a game?!?

The Grubb and Geno Monday night would be the talk of the NFL if the defense didn't completely crap the bed. They are doing it with a bottom 5 online.

Some of those run plays were what I've been waiting on for years now, very creative. I loved some of those quick outside runs that were designed around pure speed and negated any threat from the d-line. The lateral play was executed so well it looked like they invented it. Refreshing to see a ton of quick timing passes too.

Comparing this to what we would have seen in the same game with the same players and LAST years coaching staff I am ecstatic even with the loss.
