Mike Clay recently did a ranking for each position group for each team in the NFL. Because it's a slow news week, I thought I'd post the position ranking for each team in the NFC West.

It's a very flawed analysis; he underestimates our roster at QB, OL, EDGE, and CB but over-values our RBs, safeties, and linebackers. He's equally blind to the 49ers' strength, ranking them at 17 at edge rusher, 24 at QB and 26 at OL.

He's really not impressed by the Rams or Cardinals at most of the positions, for good reason. The article itself is behind a paywall, which is why I made the above chart. (You're welcome.)

The question I ask about his ranking of the 49ers edge rushers is if he rated them with or without Bosa. If it's with, then they're definitely undervalued. Also, no way 'Damn kids and their cellphones' Stafford is the best QB in the division anymore. I'd take Geno or Purdy over him. His shoulder is held together by spit and bailing wire.

I think the consensus is that with the loss of Mike McGlinchey that the 49ers' O-line--with the exception of Trent Williams--is not good. PFF ranks them at #18 after being #7 last year. But yes, #26 is probably too low when you have Trent Williams at LT. I think the respective strengths of our line and their line will determine a lot for 2023. A lot of what Shanahan likes to do starts with the run blocking of their O-line, and that's what McGlinchey was good at.

Yes definitely the worst I've seen all off season which is saying something.

There is no way we should be 32. Our WRs at 25 is mind bending unless they're ignoring Kupp completely

Well this story is OBVIOUSLY wrong since Brock Purdy is guaranteed to exceed Tom Brady in every regard!

Experts are saying Tom Brady and Peyton Manning combined very likely are not equal to 1/10th of Purdy's talents.
