Man it's been a long time since I've posted. Probably because I felt so guilty for praying that a tornado would take out OKC when I was arguing with a Thunder fan! And it wasn't even football season! I'm always a cup half full kind of guy so I think with our offensive weapons, and Grubb calling the plays we will be top four in points scored. If our defense can mesh together well, get some luck with other team's injuries, I can see top 8. Really hope Sheriff makes the practice squad because I think he can be the UDFA that becomes a legend when called up. Hope to post a lot more here since my new job allows cell phones!! Husky by birth and a Seahawk fan since inception!! Plus I still have a signed Largent and Zorn t shirt from ninth grade when they came to Guemes Island, next to Anacortes, looking for property!

We had multiple 1st round picks in last few years, this may be the year we receive dividends?

We had a pretty potent offense in 2022, and if the offensive line is fixed, the sky's the limit. Bucky Brooks just wrote an article on nfl.com, "Seattle OC=NFL's next great innovator?" He says that while everyone has been salivating over Macdonald's defense, it may be the offense that wows people.

(Scroll past the Stingley story for the story on Grubb.)

Brooks extols the virtues of Grubb's new scheme while trashing Waldron's system as one that put Geno in a "straight jacket" last year. He also said Waldron's lack of creativity "stifled" Seattle's playmaker the last couple of years.

Ravens D was # 18 in 2021. Marlon Humphrey was on IR that year. They added All Pro Roquan Smith in October and drafted All Pro Kyle Hamilton in 2022.Marlon Humphrey made the pro bowl. Just seems like the Seahawks have further to go, they were 30th last year. I think top 12 would be a more realistic target. Now their best pass rusher is going to miss 2-6 weeks? If MacDonald gets their defense to #3 start carving his bust for Canton
Well Seattle also had Hurtt at DC. A DC change alone, without considering personnel changes, would be enough for a jump up in defensive capability.

That's how awful Hurtt was.

Definitely agree but a top 3 defense seems unlikely in year one. Top 10, sure possible

Changes to defense: (1) Got rid of Adams and Diggs, replaced them with adequate safeties, Rayshawn Jenkins and K'von Walkace; (2) Released an aging Bobby Wagner and underperforming Jordyn Brooks and replaced them with competent but not overwhelming linebackers, Tyrel Dodson and Jerome Baker; (3) Added to defensive line Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy and an aging Jonathan Hankins; (4) Traded Darrell Taylor, and hopefully get a healthy Uchenna Nwosa in a few weeks; (5) Replaced DC Hurtt with Aden Durden and replaced Carroll's defensive scheme with Macdonald's scheme.

So the question is, are those changes enough to make a substantial improvement in defensive results? We didn't get superstar replacements at safety and linebacker but definitely got an upgrade on the D line. Maybe from 30th to 15th-20th?

Dodson may surprise. He looked great in pre-season and finished with top LB ratings in Buffalo at the end of 2023. All I can say about Baker is we don't know yet what he will bring. He was very good in Miami...but the injury creates questions.

Even though I feel we will take a big jump on defense, I don't feel like it will be enough to Crack the top 10. I'm thinking somewhere between 11-16.
As for offense, we better be in the top 10 we have way to many good offensive players not to be. Anything less will be uncivilized😆

It all starts in the trenches. Without OL improvement, those weapons will be muted. I think we will improve enough to get there...but not completely confident.

I am much more confident that our D will see a massive improvement.

Top 10 would be a disappointment for this offense. Let's go for top 5 at least. I look forward to the "sign Geno!" and "pay the man!" threads about a month into the season.

The defense going from bottom three to top 15 seems attainable. I think it'll take another draft and offseason to get into the top 10 or higher. I'd be happy to be wrong though. :)

Both. We've had great defensive talent, it's just been used poorly.

Geno, our WRs, RBs, TEs and New OLine will kick some serious arse.

Watching Genocide Geno destroy the Brownies defense was exhilarating!

I voted "no," and I think the defense will be the weaker unit to start.

I'm not enamored with Mike Macdonald's scheme when it doesn't have great off-ball linebacker talent. It's more similar up front schematically to Seattle's last 2 years, and the Ravens actually really suffered in run defense down the stretch.

When I see our thin linebacking corps mixed with a first-time DC, as well as a first time HC who'll be also handling playcalling duties, I see a defense that'll show obvious potential but also have obvious flaws that will illuminate the way forward from a roster-building standpoint.

I think the offense, however, will be top 10.

Im skeptical. The defense was completely atrocious the last coupla years. We lost some very winnable games because our offense was good enough. I think we are capable of winning games. Like that we took the risk to replace the linebackers. Had to be done. The first test will be Peyton and Bo Nix. I have to see a fullgame of starters on both sides of the ball. The preseason is alot weaker than it used to be without a four game schedule. So my question is what do we really have? I wanna see the coach calling plays. Thats gonna be very cool. I wanna see pressure and pass defense on a rookie qb. I have huge trust in K9 and Geno we will see the state of the oline. Wheel Routes and Bubble screens baby! Get the player the ball in space. Go Hawks!

Grubb knows how to beat B0-3.
