Just heard it, nothing earth shattering.

- Percy is still "day to day"
- Wagner is still "day to day"
- Golden looks like a go
- Breno has "turned the corner," but still too soon to tell ETA
- Pete asked somebody if they wanted extra foam

People need to forget Harvin being in the game Monday. That is what I got, without him saying it exactly.

I agree.

I know everyone wants Harvin back so bad we can taste it, but logically there's no reason to rush him back for a game we should win handily. If I had to guess I'd say no Rams game, a handful of plays in the Tampa game and then increase his plays each game until he's fully integrated barring no setbacks.

I still think there is a chance, but for my own sanity i'm going to assume he is out. If he does play, it will be a nice surprise and i can save myself the disappointment if he does not.

Agreed....with Tate as a question mark, there was an outside shot of using Harvin if Tate wasn't active, but if they are going to play Tate, then there really is no need to push Harvin back before he's had some time to practice with the guys and get himself extra reps. My earlier thoughts were that he only went this weekend if Tate was out, and even then with only limited action, I still see him only getting limited reps his first game out of the gate and expanding his role every week thereafter, but then again, I'm not the coach, and injuries and in game scenarios can change things in a hurry.

My gut says Harvin for the Tampa Bay game. My reasoning: Having a Monday game means a short turn-around for the next game so might be pushing it a little there. I think I would like to have him play a little at home before going on the road for the toughest of our next 4 games in Atlanta where we could really use him. Then next game would be full go versus Minnesota - BIG coming out party for him versus his old team and feeling good going into our bye to prepare for the Saints!! The build up has me PUMPED!!!

GO HAWKS!!

Yeah, seems like he'll get ten or fifteen snaps in the TB game and sit this STL game out. I figured that maybe they would want to give him limited snaps against a bad team, but everything BlueTalons and Kidhawk said makes sense: It's a short week for him if he plays on Monday, so might as well sit him, and Tate is playing, so no need to stretch and put Harvin out there even if he was mostly a decoy.

It all depends how he is progressing, but to give him some time VS. TB would make sense.

I don't see why you are all so afraid of letting him play a few plays. Use him as a decoy. Have him break a sweat.

I am not saying feature him but just have him get some rust off. Hell I wouldn't even give him the ball yet but would have him on the field as a presence for a drive or so.

My belief may be incorrect but, I believe we really need him for those December games.

We will all need to monitor this situation closely.

Because Harvin hasn't played a real down of football in a year, not since the Vikings game here.

In shape is not the same as football shape..............so for someone who's making what Harvin's making, and is as important as he is to this team winning a SB, I'm just fine with being EXTRA cautious to make sure there are no setbacks.

Could he play? Sure. But if you have the luxury of taking baby steps with integrating him, why take the chance? Let him get in a few weeks of full speed practices with no setbacks.

I agree we need to ease him back. I originally thought as you, why bring him back for a game we should (and will!) win handily? But I'm thinking this is a great game for those first few plays. I mean, what's the worst that can happen? Even if he runs the wrong route and RW is intercepted, so what? We can win this game with our subs. I say get Harvin out as soon as possible, but keep the progression of more plays per game in line with how he's doing.

I am talking about taking baby steps. Let him play a little ala preseason. Increase his play each game.

It's not a fear of letting him play, it's a depth issue as well. We still have several players injured on both sides of the ball, so we need to keep players active who are going to be able to get the snaps. If Harvin was going to get a lot of snaps, or if we had less injury issues, there wouldn't be a problem making him active, but not playing him too much. I think though we are best suited to let him get his legs in practice and keeping the active list for players to help our depth situation.

That's the most reasonable argument I have heard for not playing him.

If he isn't taking a valuable game day spot from someone and he is healthy then I am for him playing. But yeah, if we have to activate a player or two at a position of need then it might be best to keep him inactive.

Well, I'm sure part of the thinking is, if Harvin is activated, it means some other player needs to be cut from the team. With all our injuries, I just don't see a reason to do it.

Bottom line is that we have been winning without him. That gives us the luxury of easing him back in. Remember, this dude is 150% GO all the time when on the field and he is coming off surgery.

I'll have to check our injury list. I didn't know we were that critical.

Sooner or later, we're going to have to unwrap our new expensive toy folks.

You're like one of these action figures... all hermetically sealed in your box. You gotta play with...

Don't! Don't take it out!

I'm sorry. You know what, it's just...

It loses its value if you take it out of its packaging.

I'm just saying, let it out. Give it some air, man. Play with it.
