How many years of never moving past the second round are you and others going to be content with? After a decade of the same pattern and cycle one would think the fanbase would grow tired and want change, but not this teams. Its baffling. Just making the playoffs seems good enough. Never progressing doesnt matter. The pattern has been set for all to see. Other coaches just decimate Carroll in the post season. How many more tries does the guy get before people realize its not going to happen? He needs optimum talent to move forward, succeed and overcome his deficiencies and he's never going to have that again. Carroll is a waste of time at this point unless all you care about is a Wild Card win once in awhile. Once the post season rolls around, he's just outclassed in the X and O's department.

(Attacking the poster, not the post. Content removed.)

Wow. I'm looking at that and noticing several of the upper tier coaches had basically a single QB for most of that.

Tomlin - roethlisberger
McCarthy - Rogers
Payton - Brees
Carroll - Wilson. Pete's total win-loss record prior to the seahawks is super close to .500 (33-31). Hopefully Geno can help him improve his "non Russ" record. :)
Belichick - losing record in Cleveland, and then had Tom Brady his entire career in NE until just the past three years, two of which were losing seasons.

Holmgren had Favre with the Packers, Hasslebeck with the Seahawks.

Mad respect for those on the list who won for an extended period with multiple QBs.

For me it's all about the combination of Head Coach and General Manager. I truly enjoy and appreciate the team of Pete Carroll and John Schneider. And I'm both relieved and delighted Jody Allen chose to keep it going. Jody showed great leadership.

But the all time great partnership of Hall of Fame Coach Tom Landry and Hall of Fame General Manager Tex Schramm set the standard by which all others are judged. Two very different personalities who delivered twenty nine years of excellence.

Do they? Why do their QBs keep getting injured so much? Could that have something to do with the offensive scheming focusing completely on getting players open to receive passes, and not on protecting the QB? That would be an X-and-O failure.

Fair question. Why does every RB Seattle has or had gets hurt?

Another thing that bothers me is how bad the defense has been for so long now and how Carroll will be applauded when it improves (which it will almost certainly do because there's nowhere else to go but up at this point). Every year we all yell about the lack of a pass rush, but when there are finally decent pieces in place (Clark, Clowney, Dunlap) they're let go. Maddening.

So every RB in the league gets hurt every single year and misses games? Got it.
not playing with a full deck of cards, are ya? logic isn't your thing. it's ok. i'm not judging. i'm laughing because it's been a long day and i needed some comedy. and thanks for that. i would bet you never played football in your life.

but but but... let's assume your post meant starting running backs that actually play. so you expect every starting running back to take ~350+ carries and not miss a game? is this flag football?

200

the half-life of running backs is incredibly short, due to injuries. should 350lb DT not be allowed to touch running backs? what should the "carry limit" be to avoid injuries? should running up the middle be off limits? should the nfl stop running the ball to prevent injuries and just re-label the position to "passing blocking backs" or "receiving backs" to appease you? 🤣

sure, pete carroll used guys like marshawn and carson as sledgehammers to poke holes in the defense and it wear down. suffice to say its worked. imagine using marshawn or carson otherwise. imagine blaming pete carroll for running backs getting injured or saying it's not "worth the risk" to have them carry the ball. pure comedy.

I get what your saying bud, but its crazy how Seattles RBs seem to get hurt every single year at some point. Every team uses two to three RBs in their rotation and many of them make it through the season. Seattles RBs miss games due to injury in an unseemly unnatural frequency, Thats all I was saying.

Go thee forth into the land of NFL stat sites and find thee a credible presentation of running back injury rates broken down by team. Then bring thy find back and post to share your revelations.

We'll be waiting.

Good idea actually. Of course I couldnt find exactly what I was looking for, but did find some interesting things.

RB's are the 4th most injured position. I thought it would be higher.

This is based off of predictions but they have Penny around a 66% chance of getting hurt during the season. I would have had him in the high 90's percentile. Lol

Interesting that Wilson apologists use the excuse that there were "so many injuries" among Broncos players in the 2022 season, but the Broncos had fewer injuries per game than the Seahawks.

I'm not so sure it was the injuries as much as it was a coach that had no idea what he was doing. Payton is there now so we'll finally find out if Russ is truly done or not.

Never-the-less ..... well done. Nice finds and post. Appreciate your time and effort to volunteer data resources in support of the subject of injuries.

Well done. Thanks for your contribution.

Although, it doesn't negate the perspective that Pete and John remain an elite partnership.
