Michael Penix Jr. replaces Kirk Cousins as Falcons' starting QB
The Falcons are making a change at quarterback, with coach Raheem Morris announcing Tuesday night that rookie Michael Penix Jr. will be the team's starter moving forward.
Always a big jump, particularly for QBs. That's why the success rate is so...spotty. Teams continue to over-draft them, though. The draft is always a crap shoot, and first round QBs are like betting on hard 10s.Will be interesting to see if he's any more than a college hero.
Have my doubts, but its not like i havent been wrong 1000x before.
We are already seeing two rookie QBs thriving and another who looks much better than the vet he replaced mid season. Wouldn't be surprising to see Penix look surprisingly ready.
Struggling?Daammmnnnn.....
I know Cousins has been struggling (badly) recently, but I didn't expect this. Hope he does well (and not just because Atlanta making the playoffs over Tampa Bay is better for the Seahawks... even though it is).
6 years in college, because of the Covid exceptions. This isn't really that uncommon.Probably also helps that Daniels, Nix, and Penix were in college longer than Tommy Callahan.
