PC and/or JC in ROH?

With the talk of Doug and Kam being released, and as fan-favorites (for really good reasons!) being discussed for the Ring of Honor, it got me wondering what the temperature on this board is toward Pete or John being inducted.

What are the chances? Good? Poor? I could have set up a poll, but I'd rather just hear opinions on it, if you're all willing.

As the first HC/JM team to get us a SB win and get us into two of them, as well as the relative continued success, I'd be in favor strongly. Any dissenters?

I'm in favor of it, but the ROH is a really small group in the history of the team.

As you stated in your last paragraph, so are the number of Super Bowl winning HC/GM combos.

- Doug Baldwin
- Kam Chancellor
- Richard Sherman
- Earl Thomas
- Bobby Wagner
- Russell Wilson
- Pete Carroll
- John Schneider

I could probably listen to arguments for Cliff Avril, Michael Bennett and KJ Wright too.

Do we know exactly what the criteria are for inclusion into this club? I'm not saying you're wrong, as I agreed with you above. I just don't know how it's evaluated.

Thus far, Chuck Knox is the only Hawks coach who's been put into the RoH. In his nine years coaching Seattle, he had a .559 winning percentage in the regular season and .429 in the post-season. He took over in the team's eighth year of existence and turned the Hawks into a legit franchise.

Holmgren was .541 and .400 respectively in his decade as head coach and took the team to its first Super Bowl. He is not in the RoH but deserves consideration.

In nine years, Pete's at .622 and .600, has won a Super Bowl and taken the team to another. The team has been in the playoffs every year except two (one of which was the first year he was in Seattle). He had the top-rated defense for four years in a row (with two different D coordinators). He should be a shoe-in for the RoH. Edit to add: If you look at winning percentage all-time for NFL coaches who've been head coaches for 6+ years, Pete is in the top 50--and that includes his four years with NY/NE.

John Schneider has worked hand-in-hand with Pete to build the team since 2010 and was the one who insisted Seattle draft Russell Wilson. If any GM deserves consideration, it should be John.

I wonder how many of their players will join them, some as listed above, no doubt. I'm hoping to see Wagner and Wilson on that list some day. Others? I'm not sure.

I’d personally love to see Hass in there, but I would understand if he never gets in. One of favorite Seahawks without question, but a lot of that had to do with his personality.

Many will likely disagree but I have reservations about Marshawn being inducted into the Ring of Honor. For my liking, he was too much of a contrarian to honor that way. I want people up there that I have fond memories of, not just for their play on the field but for their character as well and how they represent the team and the city. Marshawn was more about "me" and his love for the city of Oakland.

Pete will definitely be up there and not too long after he retires, and it's hard to argue that John should not be up there as well but it may take some time before that happens. He's still quite young.

Another headline reader making it gospel, Lynch helped this team more then on the field, he helped set up post retirement investments, had no problem mentoring others. He even returned a Wallet he found on the street personally to it's owner in SEATTLE. He had issues with the Media for good cause and the NFL League offices, never with the team unless it was Bevell whom many did.

Lynch belongs there as much as Doug and maybe more so.

The team loved him as a player and team mate, as did the staff, He played thru a bunch of nagging injuries as well as a sports hernia injury also.

Since we're discussing the RoH, I'll go on my yearly rant. The Seahawks have had one league MVP in the franchise's history. The fact that Shaun Alexander is not in the RoH is embarrassing. The mans stats are at a hall of fame level. Yeah, he played behind an all-time great line, but so did a lot of other great backs.

I have never agreed with the practice of retiring football numbers not to be worn again. The Raiders, Falcons & Cowboys don't do it and the Redskins & Steelers only on rare occasions. Just my two cents.

I agree with retiring numbers, unless it's so far out of sight that only one or two get retired (Largent, Jones, maybe).

But ROH doesn't require retired number, does it? Or are you not linking the two. . . ?
