PC and JS haters...

Will you stop questioning them now? For at least a week? They HAVE a plan. They went and got Dunlap on a great deal, getting a pass rusher like everyone demanded. But haters still say "oh hes 31 and aging". Already seen it. Our staff make the moves that need to be made. They realized we needed to make changes and they did. Here's the thing: we have it so good. PC and JS have kept us winning and in the playoffs all but one year for the Wilson era. They make finds like DK in the draft. We are so lucky to have them and tons of fan bases would love to have the success that we have had. We are spoiled. And I give PC and JS all the credit for that. So I will trust them and I will back them.

Nope sorry. They are the reason we are in this mess with the potential to have the worst defense in NFL history.

They are also a big part of the reason why we are are 5-1 and tied for the best record in the NFC.

Also, Jamal Adams, Bruce Irvin, and Marquise Blair were a big part of the plan for the defense this season. Can't reasonably blame Pete and John for those guys being out with injuries.

Everyone is subject to criticism.

Dunlop is a good start, but will it be enough? They've had a few drafts to replenish the defense and right now it's a sieve. 12-4 is great, but you need a competent d to get to the Super Bowl.

ARE there JS & Carroll haters? (At least among Seahawk fans?)

That would be weird.

There are people that can see the problems that Carroll's predilections and unwillingness to change caused.

But Carroll fixed his obsession with terrible offenses and hopefully these moves will offset their unwillingness to jettison bad coordinators. Because it would be a real bummer if this team had one of the greatest offenses in franchise history, but was held back in the playoffs because of the problems listed above.

Hoping the Dunlap trade ends up being what we need it to be.

I share your faith in PC and JS. But everyone is entitled to their opinions, even though some here need to voice it repeatedly. Meh, it's an internet message board. The detractors won't ruin my enjoyment of this season. I'm hoping we get healthy and back to full strength for that final playoff push.

Well, there is a thread poll up right now implying that Pete Carroll should be stripped of his title as well as half of the gameplan. I think it's fair to categorize much of it as haterade.

I'm all for nuanced criticism, but the majority of the criticism is just fallacy after fallacy. Likewise, much of the praise are simple appeals to authority rather than nuanced praise for the success of the team.

I don't want them fired, but to say we shouldn't question the construction of this defense is ridiculous. They are on pace for the worst defense in NFL history. If you think that is mostly because of injuries I don't know what to say.

Maelstrom,

Isn't 'haterade' subjective though?

Carroll (and JS) delivered one of the greatest strings of winning to this franchise ever.

And without him, Wilson might not have even started for us. But how much of the winning after our SB loss was really due to Carroll and how much was Wilson dragging a team, filled with gaping holes, forward despite all the shortcomings?

Worse, how many wins did we leave on the table because we rigidly enforced tactics and strategy that poorly matched our personnel?

Is it 'haterade' to wonder why a first ballot HOF QB has few playoff successes past the wildcard in the past 5 years? Primarily because we thought not using the HOF QB until the 4th was a great playoff strategy?

Is that hate? Or just are realization that people can do great things and still have weaknesses and predilections that can hurt chances for success if not accounted for?

Is this trade going to improve his game management, clock management, ability to adapt in games sooner, his unwillingness to see the writing in the wall when it comes to ineffective coaches and players sooner? His putrid win in the 4th quarter mentality? His play not to lose instead of play to win mentality. I love a winning season and a division title as much as the next guy, but at what point is that not good enough anymore?

A great deal of the ”constructive criticism” I see posted here is from fans who do not realize how good they've had it the last decade. Perfect? Nope. But pretty damned good.

I'm guessing there are fans of about 25-30 other teams that would take John and Pete in a heartbeat over the GM and coach they currently have. But yeah, go on with complaining.
