They are up for sale. Purse strings closed. Not going to put big numbers on the books prior to the sale. Team is under the control of accountants and Lawyers hired to facilitate the sale. Nothing big is going to happen. People here try to say this is not true but it is. Nine unrestricted free agents that we had the opportunity to sign before free agency. Not one signing. Purse strings are closed. Don’t believe me wait until the second week of free agency and we still haven’t made a big impact deal. A couple of mid range deals is the best to hope for. The rest of the deals will be just enough to fill the roster

Coming off a Super Bowl win and no big numbers on the books will be the selling points from the accountants and Lawyers

Accountants and Lawyers do not think like fans
This has absolutely nothing to do with “keeping the purse strings closed,” or the sale.

It has been John’s MO as long as he has been here. Disciplined about his cap.

And the Seahawks actually HAVE to spend a lot of money this year to keep them above the cap basement.

So overpay for our 4th edge instead of drafting one in a deep class or picking up a cheap vet (von miller et al) , overpaying far a safety n a two deep scheme and overpaying a rb?

Walker is the only one I could argue mostly due to replacement options but seriously I think John was on it today.

Personally, I’d like to see a return to the early Pete and John days where your job was never safe. It didn’t matter what your draft position was, or how much we were paying you. If someone came along and played better than you, you got replaced. It made Seattle a destination for hungry players.

Roster churn baby!
We are in those days. Just ask riq and who were those linebackers we used to have, baker and someone else… can’t even remember…. Remember Sam Howell? I forgot about him till he was on the eagles in my madden game, he popped up in the second have of a preseason game on madden…

In a couple years when we resign Rhylie Mills to a 7 year $210 Million contract fully guaranteed with a $200 Million signing bonus plus incentives you will eat those words.

The organization has a lot of money to spend on to it's players, yet they are so cheap.

I think Walker got overpaid, but the prices that Bryant and Mafe got, were very close to what the team should had paid for FA.

Lucas and Cross and Sam is paid. Is the organization just going to save up money to pay JSN and Spoon?

If this is the case, I would feel bad for the players that did get drafted and are not stars like Spoon or JSN.

"Organization is cheap"
>pays a 21 yard WR $17M
Cheap organizations don't pay $1M per yard per game.

Here and there
Players play their hardest to get that big bag of a second contract. They aren’t here because their childhood dream was to play for the Hawks.

Guys are lucky, and happy, to be drafted and developed by this org, to then go out and sign big contracts with other teams.
Players want to get paid..teams out there will always overpay..nature of the beast..I loved Walker and sad to see him go..but there's always going to be that one player who will play their heart out and that's what I hope we look for to replace some like Walker...not saying all, but often someone finds their pot of gold and they don't play as hard as they once did...IMHO

Mafe is definitely worth the value than Nwosu.

And they still kept Nwosu who was injured for 2 years in a row.
Mafe, was a limited player. Was not consistent enough at pass rush to warrant playing every passing down, and not, consistent enough to trust stopping the run on the first few downs.

There is a reason why Mafe played limited snaps. He really isn’t worth an extension.

They really gave Mafe a lot of chances to be the guy and I was rooting for him, but he and Derrick hall are like the same player…

Nwosu had 7 sacks last year and is only 29, Also had a pick 6 in the super bowl. His cap hit is a bit steep this year but I could see him extended for a year or 2 to lower it which helps a bit when Lawrence retires next year.

As long as they win the Super Bowl next year, who cares. However It is kind of funny how the starting RB and Super Bowl MVP can't get $15 million a year but the Kick/Punt returner can get $17 million.

With their FA spending spree last year, the Pats definitely threw a monkey wrench into the usual response of "If spending big in FA is so good, why are those teams still so bad?" to the annual people who panic during early FA. That is until you remember that this cheap team was the one that dismantled them lol.

Here’s a Super Bowl ring and who cares where your large bag of cash comes from? I get paid and I’m always going to be a Super Bowl CHAMP! Sign me up.

Seahawks are signing most of their own players first. That's the way to keep winning championships. The ones they have lost went because of the money. Glad the Seahawks are staying fiscally responsible.

Just like how they offered Golden Tate to come back for 4mill a year?

outside of walker who was part of a 2 headed beast... and BARELY Bryant we let backups walk so far. Ty Okada had 8 starts (hence why i said barely)

Walker split time with Charbs
Mafe was 4th in the depth chart and stats
Bryant iirc split starts with Ty Okada. Ty Okada started 8 games this yr
Okadan > Bryant imo.

MMs system really, really helped Bryant.

I have a feeling Chicago fans are going to be rather disappointed..I expect Bryant to move to a backup role by mid season.
