We signed a veteran guard this week. The real question is not if JS is looking around to try and make this line better but if there is an actual upgrade available and at what price. Teams aren't looking to trade away their O line starters. No, we don't need to look around, make calls, and offers for an older veteran replacement to better protect our QB and help in our running game. Not at all.
I gave an example of one. A 33 year old proven vet (7 time Pro-Bowler, 2 time All-Pro) on the last year of his contract who plays on a losing team that would perhaps be willing to trade him for draft capital and/or a young redundant player from us.We signed a veteran guard this week. Do you know he is available and what he would cost in a trade? The idea that the team isn't exploring all options to improve the team is silly to me. Its a lot like a little kid throwing a tantrum. I want a better line and I want it now! Well duh, we all would. The real question is are there upgrades actually available for trade. Usually not at the start of the year. Maybe when the trade deadline gets closer options start becoming more available.I gave an example of one. Look around for vets nearing end of their contracts who are playing on losing and/or rebuilding teams.
I was idly fishing around for such players and trying to see if any older proven vets fit my trade profile and I found a short list of them. Bitonio was one of them. I posted what I did to see if anyone else could come up with names that might fit the profile. I also found (probably not from very reliable sources) that a guy like the one I mentioned and some others could well be available.Do you know he is available and what he would cost in a trade? By the way the Eagles just won the super bowl last year and their starting guard Mekhi Becton was pretty bad. As in released from the Jets bad I believe.
No team has a perfect line.
I still think the cure is Olu at center and Sundell at RG. Temporary cure at least.
hawkblogger said he is skinnier thoughTwo years of highlights exactly like this already in the books on him. Don't have a clue what others were seeing.
Really curious as to what a player who plays WR and RG would look like. What are their measurables? A guard you want around 6’5” and 300 lbs. Now put that guy at WR and you have a weapon. Actually I think there is already a guy in the roster like that that plays FB. I’m all in. Let’s get another Outz!!OMG, everyone else now knows what we have known this entire time….
2026 1st round pick is WR/Right Guard. Second round pick Right Guard/WR.
Book it!
Everyone make bad plays now and then. But when someone achieves making bad plays consistently you know it's time to hit the can and prioritize the marching orders.I don't even focus on the linemen when I watch, but I can't help but notice Bradford. He was just awful on Thursday. I have to say that I saw Sundell make some equally bad plays, too.
Exactly. If Limeau (sp?) isn't good enough to beat Bradford out for the spot he isn't good enough to sign.We signed a veteran guard this week.
