On that Purdy scramble? Ended up 4th and 1 and should have been 4th and a long 2
That is a terrible rule that you can't challenge since it will keep it at 4th down anyway. There's a big difference with options to the O on a 4th and 1 vs 4th and 2 imo. Was the one where we turned it over anyway?

I know Niners fans aren't very bright but this is a penalty.

He started the blocking process in the field of play and drove him out of bounds. I've seen Jennings do it multiple times and never get called. Ive seen Trent Williams do it and Kittle as well. It's only a penalty out of bounds if the player intentionally goes out of bounds.

It's sort of like blocking the gunners on a kick off. The blocking is continued to the ground

He has him in a bear hug my guy. That's obviously holding, not even taking into account driving him to the ground three steps out of bounds.

That’s not true at all about it not being a penalty, when you start the body slam already a yard or so out of bounds it should be called every time…I do believe you that you’ve seen niners get away with it multiple times though

I echo @ivotuk here.

They also called a very bad penalty on Zabel. A holding call where he wasn't holding at all which negated a nice run.
I'd have to watch it again, but I remember watching the replay and thinking, "Yep, Zabel, they got you dead to rights on that one." He wrapped his arm around his target. Totally legit holding call.

I feel like it's always around this time of the season the refs suddenly start letting a lot of the teams play. Which makes sense, it's easier to say they missed a hold/PI during a replay rather than made a call that determined the outcome of a huge game like this or playoff.
