Much has been debated about the state of the offense, from o-line play to WR play to QB play to play calling. Something obviously needs to happen for this offense to start contributing to the overall success of this team. Yeah, they have had their moments, but they have yet to find their identity. During the first part of last year, the offense relied on TJack to throw the ball until the running game seemed to click. In 2011, the offense evolved from a mediocre passing offense with little to no running game to a formidable rushing threat by the end of the season.
Are we seeing the same type of evolution this year? It looks like they are built to run the ball with authority, yet seem to be force feeding the pass offense. I would argue that, even though the offense is built to run the ball, has success at running the ball, needs to run the ball because of a rookie QB, and could take pressure off of the defense by running the ball, the coaching staff has either not allowed the offense to create an identity or they are not committed to running the ball.
When Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin consistently gain 4-7 yards a pop, you need to keep running the damn ball. At times I get the feeling that we are watching Russell Wilson take Pro-Football 101. Yes it is a learning experience that he needs to go through. Yes, he is the future at QB. As much as we want to win NOW, it seems like the coaching staff has approached this season as training for next year. Next year Big Russ will have enough experience that he will be allowed to go to graduate school in the offense.
Can we reasonably expect him to successfully lead this offense this year? Should the offense really just go to a pound and ground like we were led to believe that they were built for? Will the coaching staff allow the offense to find its identity? :icon_new: :thgeterdone:
