Here's the crazy thing :In Schneider's defense: blocking for Russell Wilson made OL look bad. and , Geno is geNO,
“We’ve made our biggest mistakes when we’ve, you know, pushed players up a board for need — rob Peter to pay Paul — for offensive lines,” Schneider said at the combine in Indianapolis two months ago.John, it's been a decade.
I like this thinking. But, seeing as we know Schneider for years and years and years and years of Schneider sucking with the offensive line. I’m going to assume he definitely doesn’t think he “has to” do anything different with the offensive line. He's convoluted & bullheaded, this may not bode well for us. There is no other position group in such dire need of upgrade(s), the OLine is the only one on life support. The BAP vs need argument is not relevant and here's why.
1) Whatever the choices between positions at 18, there is not likely to be a great difference in grading. Splitting hairs because a Safety was graded slightly higher than an OG would be ignorant at this point.
2) This OL cancer has went on far too long, they've had their chance to fix it.
Now it HAS TO BE fixed.
3) two straight years of double digit wins with no playoffs and a long playoff win drought, the reason? The OLine.
4) Ineffective run game, poor pass protection & red zone production. Over taxing our defense with lopsided TOP.
5) New QB, WR, RB, TE rooms and a new OC all depending on a functioning OL.
I wouldn't be lazy about fixing this, I would take OL at 18, I would also take another OL at 50. Don't even wait until 52, they might be gone. It's that important.
Ultimately, after 18, I would seriously try to trade 50 & 52 to move up into the 1st round to take another top OL. If not that package a 2nd & 3rd to move up in the 2nd round to grab one of the last solid OLine. This is one time we should invest in insurance to get this right.
There are options to solving this problem beyond just using one of our top picks.
IMHO, the only picks that matter, or should be used to solve our offensive line problems are 18, 50, 52 and I would use two of them starting with 18.
Should also save some cap $ to sign an OL vet preseason cut to help transition the rookies.
This team will never reach its potential until its biggest weakness is not only fixed, but greatly improved upon.
The first name that popped into my head upon reading this was James Carpenter.“We’ve made our biggest mistakes when we’ve, you know, pushed players up a board for need — rob Peter to pay Paul — for offensive lines,” Schneider said at the combine in Indianapolis two months ago.
Um. First of all, when the **** did you DO that?
Second of all, this is the stupidest quote that I've heard out of JS's mouth yet.
I'm hoping that the new Offensive Coordinator, and schemes, and balanced running attack, and possibly fullback, and jacked defense are going to mask the problem.
But if we have a 51% year, and we miss the playoffs again, and it's on the Oline. JS needs to be fired.
I've said earlier this offseason that he needs to be fired. I had a small moment when he said something that sounded intelligent about the situation about a month ago. But there's no excuse for this kind of bullheadedness. We just fired the last OC for the SAME AMOUNT of denial and bullheadedness.
FFS. Fix it.

"Ain't broke, don't fix." our GM surely does not think the OL needs fixing, don't believe me? This off-season, we signed none other than:FFS. Fix it.

I have no more faith in Schneider turning around this offensive line….unless for whatever reason with this draft class crop Schneider somehow pulls a rabbit out of a hat….
It is.
Fans need to move on.
I have no problems if fans actually present an argument with analysis of why it's bad and how to fix it.Lol why are you posting on here if you think fans shouldnt support the team because of a bad OL.
I mean I know its been bad but seriously?
Here's the crazy thing :
Even though you're being sarcastic, that is actually a true statement.
