I was watching the game today when the scores started flashing at the bottom of my TV Screen. When I saw that the 49ers lost I started jumping up and down like a freaking school girl. When I saw that the Rams and Cardinals also lost, it's like I was lifted up to heaven briefly. And when I saw that the Packers and Falcons also lost, I got down on my knees and offered a prayer of gratitude. The Seahawks have been given the gift of an early 2 game lead. I know that it's only Week 3 ... but it sure feels like Seattle is in pole position and is a good 1/2 lap ahead of the rest of the field. I pray that they don't start enjoying the view from out front and take their foot off the gas. Can you imagine the level of excitement that's going to be surrounding this team if they return from Houston next week 4-0?

I'd be just fine with a #2 seed. There isn't another NFC team that scares me- I can trust Seattle to win 1 road game if they have to, and odds are solid that they wouldn't need to (1-2 seed championship games are pretty uncommon).

In the AFC, I am afraid of no team except maybe Denver. But I'm pretty sure we stomp Denver if it's a cold weather game.

The only thing I am afraid of is Seattle having an off game at the wrong time. That's pretty much it.

HFA most almost certainly cost the Vikings a trip to the Super Bowl when they had to travel to/rather than host New Orleans.
I thought it was Adrian "butta fingas" Peterson that cost the Vikings a trip to the Super Bowl.

They gotta win the division first. Sometimes that can be done early, but it is the first achievement they can reach. Last year it cost them a Super Bowl trip.

Then you weren't really paying attention. The Vikings were virtually unbeatable at home that year. And the Superdome is kind of a difficult place to play.

Well, as of today, only 2 other teams are tied with us in the race for HFA: Chicago and New Orleans. We've got a 1 or 2 game lead on all other serious contenders.

Feels good to be in control of our own destiny. Never been this excited so early. I don't see anyone stopping us.

We did the offseason work and gather the preseason praise and now we are earning our place on top. This feels great!

It is nice to be in control of our own destiny, so to speak. There's a LOT of football to be played yet, but with our team's attitude of one game at a time, they should be fine.

While I'm usually one to downplay early success like we've had, I kind of like that it hasn't come that easily. There are still areas of concern that the team must address to continue the success, but we have some pretty good football minds on the coaching staff working on them. The win against Carolina was no gimmee, and the SF win was certainly not without it's moments of difficulty. Looking back on the road so far, the team has a lot to build on as well as learn from.

So, an early lead is fantastic. It's much better than the alternatives. It really is better to play from ahead than behind. :)

I'd have to go with the goal has to be the next game.

For fans, it's a cop out. But this jaguars game really hammered the point home. If we truly feel that the only team that can beat the Seahawks, are the Seahawks -- then how they respond to the immediate challenges is crucial.

Seattle is a team that has to find how to succeed with the target on it's back. That was one of the critical 'next steps' heading into the season. How they brought the intensity in a game that shouldn't have been a challenge is in itself important. It shows that the team is becoming far more consistent in it's approach. And learning how to not beat themselves.

This effort was important in my opinion, as it is another demonstration that this team is still growing and still improving. They are developing a true champions mentality. It was the latest in a growing list of new challenges that they are surmounting in a Borg like, systematic fashion. The ability to keep your eye on the prize even when the matchup doesn't instill great passion is tough to come by.

As fans, it's awesome to look ahead and dream. When players indulge in that, is usually when the wheels fall off.

BFS is a closet Vikings fan, don't pay attention to anything he says about them.

I don't think the NFC West should be the goal. The goal should be the entire NFC. Get home field advantage all the way thru, not just that first round.

This...we NEED to be #1 seed and we are about 90% Guranteed a superbowl trip

Agreed. We already have a much more decisive lead on SF than I thought we would at this point in the season. If our guys just concentrate on crushing each team each week, the rest of the stuff sorts itself out. Nice position to be in.

If Seattle takes care of business at home, then I'm not worried about the Saints. If the Saints beat us, then I wouldn't put it past Seattle to get revenge on the road. Wilson has a perfect record in "revenge" games.

Also, if Seattle got a #2 seed it would guarantee no 10am games in the postseason even if they have to travel (barring a change from the league's traditional game scheduling during conference championship weekend).
