The hawks are the only team to win this week in the division and with A. Smith taking time off it looks like the 9ers could be hurting for a while. If the Hawks keep the foot on the gas HOME field advantage would be hard to get away from us.

I don't think the NFC West should be the goal. The goal should be the entire NFC. Get home field advantage all the way thru, not just that first round.

It's a weird year, after this week:

Only 5 teams over .500 in the NFC. SEA, NO, and CHI (probably at time of post) are undefeated. 'Skins, Giants, Vikings, Bucs are winless.

10 teams in the AFC are over .500. Pats (not for long), Miami, Chiefs, and Broncos (probably) are undefeated. Only the Jags and probably the SteAlers are winless.

It's a looooong year and anything can happen. I am still really worried about our road games especially the 10am's.

That better be the goal.

Green Bay and Atlanta, the two biggest out of division threats for the #1 seed, both lost.

Atlanta isn't a threat IMO. It is NO.

Agreed. And the good news is we get them at home.

Green Bay is not a threat either. They will be battling for their lives to make the playoffs with THAT defense. And have you seen their schedule??? They do not have a single GIMME on their road schedule. Their ceiling is 11 wins which is unlikely to earn the #1 seed, but I think they will be fortunate just to win their division. Detroit/Chicago will battle them all the way, and the Pack is sitting with 2 losses already.

HFA is ours for the taking.

The whole NFC east is garbage, Saints are a threat but at home we should beat them. Falcons are probably our biggest threat, Packers are not, dom capers needs to be gone ASAP, also their O-line is comparable to the hawks in pass blocking. Don't sleep on the niners tho

I'd be just fine with a #2 seed. There isn't another NFC team that scares me- I can trust Seattle to win 1 road game if they have to, and odds are solid that they wouldn't need to (1-2 seed championship games are pretty uncommon).

In the AFC, I am afraid of no team except maybe Denver. But I'm pretty sure we stomp Denver if it's a cold weather game.

The only thing I am afraid of is Seattle having an off game at the wrong time. That's pretty much it.

HFA most almost certainly cost the Vikings a trip to the Super Bowl when they had to travel to/rather than host New Orleans.

Agreed. The Hawks are a great team, but at home they are on another level. HFA is huge for us to get the chance to take the whole thing.

The entire NFL should be the goal.

I'd be happy to take 5 more NFC West wins - that'd put us squarely at 7 wins this season with 9 other games on the schedule out of division. Let's just say that the NFC West really is that bad... has it lessened the accomplishments of teams like New England who have feasted off of an awful AFC East for the last 10 years? Or the Colts in the AFC South?
