Enjoy it while you can, Richard. I doubt you'll get many such awards going forward.
why is that?

I'd wager it's because QBs are just going to quit throwing near him at all. Not at any player he's covering, not at his side of the field.

That's going to result in some "zero INTs, zero passes defensed" lines that don't look as good as a game with a couple of picks.

I don't know. A QB can either throw at Sherman or BB/WT3 with Earl over the top.

Neither option is particularly appetizing. I see teams going to the "check down" offense against us and Wagz getting more stats.

You mean because jealousy driven bias?

Possible. But I'm more suggesting teams are going to wise up and quit challenging him. This is why Deon Sanders, one of the greatest players to ever play this game, has rather pedestrian stats. They just quit going to his side of the field. Wisely.

To you and I, consuming half the field would be enough to consider Sherm for MVP (type) honors, but we know that's not how the masses think. If he doesn't lead the league in INTs, and he won't, they will irrationally discount his contribution. The coaches won't.

If corners live on islands, Sherman's is going to be deserted, thinks me.

Ah I see...I took it the wrong way, as usual.

Sorry Volsung, didn't see your post before I added my explanation. You're dead on the money. But Sherm will be all-pro and will make top money. Could be worse.

I have a feeling that there's still plenty of primadonna receivers out their jogging back to the huddle demanding another shot at Sherm and plenty of hard headed OC's willing to give it to them... at least enough to keep us entertained for awhile longer.

Richard brings out the best in people.

I understand your rationale, and it's sound.

However, Sherm should have 2 INTs in 2 games (the drop in Carolina). And the award this week was more for completely erasing Boldin than it was for the lone INT.

Sherm's star is still rising and people are taking notice.

^Yes. Sanders wasn't forgotten about due to him shutting down an entire half of a field. He was recognized and celebrated.

Understood and agreed, BFS. I was explaining my earlier comment that we shouldn't be surprised if he sees few more such awards (as the season progresses). Then lawless Hawk reminded me of how bullheaded DCs can be.

In reality, as (^&#$%) awesome as Sherm is, DCs are faced with a "pick your poison" scenario when scheming for the Hawks. So Sherman will probably see more action with us, than he would if he played for a lesser team. I no longer have any desire to let Sherman (eventually) walk. Screw the money. He's a once a decade CB and he's only getting started.
