In all seriousness, a "crumple zone" on a helmet is a great idea. It works on cars, helicopters, and floatplanes.

I landed in a high mountain lake in the Brooks Range and there was a Cessna 185 scattered across some huge boulders. Tail broke off, both wings snapped off and were on the ground, but everyone walked away because the floats absorbed the impact.

They've been using crumple zones on cars for years, so why has it taken them so long to approach helmets like this?

One would think that anyone smart enough to make enough money to own an NFL team would be a forward thinker when it comes to protecting his assets (players).

But it's not just NFL owners, it's Colleges and High Schools too that must shoulder part of the blame. They're the ones that start football careers using kids to do it. And if they aren't thinking about protecting the children, what good are they?
