Good points. Bevell seems very schizophrenic with his playcalling. When something works a little voice in his head tells him to change it up as they are expecting it, even though they can't stop it. And the empty back field thing is annoying. Does it work sometimes, yes. Should we use it with our average pass block o-line, no. If anything we should have Tate and Lynch in the backfield on third downs with a triple threat RO type play. Talk about wondering where the ball is going.

Rice has been a non issue this year. I'm thinking his knee is bothering him more than he's letting on. If it is, he should acknowledge as much so we can IR him and pick up some scrub until we get Harvin back. Or, if it's not his knee, then he should be benched a game or two to see if that wakes him up. Kearse, Tate and Baldwin would still work rather nicely until Harvin returns.

My biggest gripes were the blocked kick for a TD, the OPI vs Tate, the dPI on Browner when the ball was not catchable and Brandon had position anyway. The DPI on Sherman was one I wandered about because it looked like the WR was pushing off but Richard should know better.

The whole team looked flat, I think the wear and tear from last week took it's toll.

I was in the bar with my boy Riley12. What was the logic for giving a safety and NOT a TD on the blocked punt?

I didn't hear. What did Peirra say?

Something about his ass and a hole in the ground.

I recall them saying that it wasn't conclusive either way. ie that the ball moved a smidge as he was sliding out of bounds but it was pretty clear that it was a TD.

Are you kidding me? No clear posession nonsense? That's not needed on a fumble. Wow!

Browner can't cover the quick guys. We could over come that.
The PI calls were not equal. We can over come that.
5 runs by Marshawn in the 2nd half. When the Colts were struggling to find an answer for him. We cannot overcome that. Hawks ID is toughness running, and with the lead we took the ball out of Lynch's hands. Dumb. Once again, not much use of the middle of the field.

The empty sets bother me more than Lynch not getting the ball. Guys's that rush for over 1,600 yards make good decoys too.

Jus' sayin

I am going to say that I think D's are about to start giving Russ the Vick/Kaep treatment and forcing him to pass. Less rush, maintain the pocket and make him beat you without his legs. This year he looks like an ultra-talented athlete without anyone coaching him on how to pass

Okay, I like Sidney a lot, but he has been less than a non factor so far... he's been a detriment more than once..

And, then its up to Bevell to stick with the run then. Problem solved.

Or develop a consistent passing game for his talented QB...

Sid is gettin over 7M a year to be what? Seems to me like he rounds off his routes and makes it easier for the D to compensate. Whatever it is he brings, he forgot to bring it today for sure.

I don't know what Bevell wants. I LOVE the power run out of a spread formation, it's so unique. But, once it works, it's time to shelve it.

He WANTS to be a 2 TE, 2 Back power run team that feasts on play action. But the only time we can run is if we have at least a 3rd receiver in. I don't know how many times he just runs verts in important situations, but its frustrating to watch. The D's may as well not even put anyone in the middle of the field

(pehawk looks from side to side, scans room, as if he were about to tell a racist joke)

So, it appears safe to criticize Bevell again?

Yeah, I'm frustrated.

While the Tate OPI was a horrible call, it had no effect on the outcome of the day. The Hawks ended up scoring a TD on that drive anyway.

Rice seems to be almost in pout mode with the emergence of Kearse, or his knee isn't right. Play calling has gotton away from our bread and butter and reputation, maybe it's no Mrob, maybe it's the depleted line, but the 2 back power formation isn't used very much and teams are not respecting the run from that formation anymore. Sprint read options spread the defense out and they are now prepping more for it. Colts had a spy on Wilson oll day at Linebacker, Wilson got yards but not on called plays, he ran on pass plays where their were gaps in protection. He skewed our rushing stats a lot that way.

• Clock management - Using up all of our Timeouts like tic tac’s early on in the second half didn’t help any on that last drive.
• Play calling- As others have mentioned the play calling was a bit helter skelter today and I think we got away from what was working in the first half. Look at Lynch’s touch’s first half VS second half. Yes he had a ton of yards, but why get away from the power running game when it was working so well in the first half?
• Sydney Rice has issues, and not even making an attempt to come back to that ball was damn near inexcusable. The other three WR’s now on the squad are clearly outplaying him at this stage of the season. To my untrained eye he simply doesn’t look willing to risk anything anymore. The others are always hazarding themselves to make a play but Rice seems almost gun-shy. Not ready to broom him yet but there needs to be marked improvement, especially since Harvin should theoretically be in play after next week.
• Blown assignments in the secondary were a head scratcher today. One week our Linebackers are the ones getting picked on and the next week the vaunted LOB is the whipping boy. Just Road issues or something more sinister?
• Special teams play was actually pretty good today if you throw out the blocked kick and then getting rogered by the ref’s in the blocked punt that, to my eyes, was clearly a touchdown! Hauschkas kick on that FG try was way low! He almost redeemed himself by tackling the guy who caught it but a whiff is a whiff.
• Two too many “12 men on the field” call’s today! When was the last time that happened?
• The Push off on Browner in that last TD (to Hilton I think) was just sickening.
• The DPI calls on Both Browner and Sherman were dubious at best.
• The OPI call on Tate was 50/50 to my eyes.
