Still no big deal that Moffitt is gone. We're talking about a Guard here, and one that wasn't even that good.

Jesse Williams not panning out for you guys??

Some of us think they are going to try and put him on IR. He doesn't look right in the 2 games he's played.

That would explain his freefall in the draft.

nah...he's got a bad case of corpse knee and hasn't looked very good in games

Not as we hoped, but that's okay as he's a 5th rounder, Jordan Hill though? the 3rd round DT? Be afraid.

The unverified wisper word I recall was arthritic ... as in arthritic knee.

eeks.

That sucks. Still...he was a risky pick to begin with because of the knee. That's the only reason he was there to be drafted in that spot to begin with.

Sometimes you win with those and some times you lose. Was probably worth the risk.

Here's an interesting twist, apparently Moffitt asked for a trade earlier this spring:

He was losing a training camp battle for the right guard job with J.R. Sweezy this summer. He said he asked in the spring to be traded, but was told no.

Wow, I didn't realize he actually went through a practice with the Browns. That must be weird to be there and practice for one day and then get shipped off somewhere else.

No such thing as a "risky" 5th round pick, especially with a roster already stacked.

Why the heck would there be a picture of him suited up in pads if he never passed the physical?

.....

ok....let me restate....

My point was that its a pick you make late in a draft because it could hit big or flame out. You make that pick late in a draft because taking the player is a risk. The 49ers did the same with Marcus Lattimore.

It isn't a critcism. Its what you do to remain a really good team.

Well this whole is interesting. Still don't understand how a player can fail a physical with one team and than quickly pass one with another. Either way I wish John the best and hope the guy we get turns into something positive for us.

Yes, for sure - and why he was available in the 5th round. Just be careful using the word "risky" and "5th rounder" in the same sentence.

I think Cleveland is just ultra sensitive about it since they have had 2 RGs go down already. They don't want to take on a 3rd guy who looks a bit iffy in the knee department.

So while Moffit is probably fine, he's not a safe enough bet for a team trying to avoid more injured players.
