I think the Seahawks have a solid defense. Smith-Njigba is very good, but otherwise I don't think the Seahawks have an offensive starter that is above average. Good luck predicting what the Seahawks will do. I wouldn't rule anything out.

The Athletic mocked Seattle to a WR at #18.

18. Seattle Seahawks: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

As much as Seattle needs O-line help, I don’t see it drafting Bama’s Tyler Booker or North Dakota State’s Grey Zabel here. The 6-4, 219-pound McMillan, with his freakish ball skills, is too gifted not to take and package with Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp.

“He’s a dude,” one Big 12 head coach said. “They weren’t any good around him, but he’s such a difference-maker. He has elite ball skills. He knows how to use his body. I was super impressed with him. His game translates because most NFL catches are contested catches.”

In 2024, McMillan had 84 catches for 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns despite defenses knowing he was Arizona’s first, second and third option on every pass play. Scouts and coaches aren’t sure how fast he is — he’s probably 4.6-ish in the 40, and his vertical is in the 34- or 35-inch range — but he has uncanny timing from his volleyball background. His old coach at Arizona, Jedd Fisch, spent a long time as an NFL assistant and told me McMillan is “the best athlete I’ve ever seen,” in part because of his remarkable hand-eye coordination.

“Baller,” a Big 12 secondary coach said. “On film, I saw some laziness when he wasn’t getting the ball. But he has the best skills I’ve seen in years. He’s unbelievable. I don’t worry about his speed. He’ll be able to make those catches on third-and-6 when you really need it with a corner right on him.”

“I think he has competitive speed and competitive vertical ability,” a Big 12 DC said. “Those ’50-50 balls’ aren’t 50-50 balls with him. They’re more 90-10 with him.”

“The thing with him is he did not come off the field,” a Big 12 defensive coordinator said. “You watch the film, and you think, ‘This kid is lazy.’ I think he was just trying to get a breather. He has as good of hands as you will ever see — he catches everything, away from the body, up in the air. He has such good body control. Not a blazer. But I think he does a good job of finding a way to separate. I can’t compare him hands-wise to anyone.”

Yeah, I saw something about that. And he likes tennis more than football or some shit? Makes you wonder how dedicated he is to football long term.
Well, (supposedly) football wasn't actually Joe Montana's best sport way back when, it was actually basketball that he excelled at and loved playing...Who would have suspected such a thing.

I am pretty certain the one guy not on Seattle's board is McMillan. Nice talent but all the reports lately is he doesn't love football. He has said himself he loves Tennis more. He doesn't watch film, hates watching football, etc. He is not a "Seahawk" type player if those reports are true.

I feel confident enough to say you can cross McMillan off as a possibility.

I don't really care about receivers not being film junkies. What all do they even learn from that? Experience and coaching is probably going to give them all the technical knowledge they need.

I am concerned about McMillan's struggles with gaining separation though. There have been a number of high-profile receiver busts in recent years with that issue. I got fooled badly by N'Keal Harry specifically.

I can definitely see us picking a WR with one of our first 5 picks. I was reading random trash on the MSN newsfeed yesterday and some dude posted a complete 7 round mock that had Wade and Sanders going 1/2, Then down the page to about round 4 (guessing that was the round) Seattle chose Slough. Scrolled on down to the end and never did see Dart as a choice. Dart undrafted? That is the last mock I will ever look at!

I saw this thread title and I thought it was about macarons. About the same value as a mock draft. You either like them or you don't.

Pete used to post clues as to who we would pick with our first. His clues made me even more confused that I already was and I almost NEVER have their first pick right. Last year was the first time I got it right in ages.
So nothing would really surprise me, or anything would surprise me. WR in this draft is a deep class. For that reason I rule that out for 18.
JS doesn't really believe in using high picks for O linemen. So I rule that out.
I think Pete was the one responsible for choosing corners at high spots, not JS. So I rule that out.
We don't really need a RB, so I rule that out.
Our D line is pretty top shelf so I rule that out.
We just paid good money for a difference maker at LB and our other one is young and playing well, so I rule that out.
I don't think we really need a TE...so that's gotta be it! And yes, I will moan and groan about what a stupid choice it was!
I like your logical progression ending up with a plan to bitch. THIS is DOT NET!!!!!!

I don't know who this guy is, but according to Matt Miller @ ESPN+, there are 0 QBs, 0 LBs and 0 Safeties in this year's draft with a REAL first round grade. Furthermore, there are only (2) WRs with a first rd grade and Travis Hunter is one of them. The other is Luther Burden III out of Mizzou. Altogether, there are only (13) players with a true first round grade. I'll post the link, but it's ESPN+ so you might hit a pay wall.

Of course. I said it makes you wonder.. It puts a little doubt in there. It could mean absolutely nothing.

It doesn't make much sense to root for specific positions in my view outside of the top few picks. The other teams are smart too, and when it comes to our selection at #18 we'll get a reasonably fair choice between overall player ability and positional value. If a highly regarded player is available that will be because the position has a lower relative value, and if we select somebody at a valuable position they're going to have some flaws that some people won't like.

That's OK - the draft is highly uncertain and nobody actually has any idea how any of these prospects are going to turn out. There's plenty of fun to be had in forming your opinions about prospects as a fan and doing lots of mock drafts, but just imagine when you see other people talking about prospects that every comment is prefaced with "Personally.." or "I'm just guessing but..." and you'll have a better time.

It just dawned on me that we will no longer be the proud participants in Pete's Draft Scavenger Hunt thingamajig.

😂. Sounds like Montana was having an uncle Rico moment. No way would slow and short Montana ever be better at basketball than he was at football.
