Giving up 37 points as a defensive minded coach is flat out not good enough. He should be thankful to Kubiak and Darnold for figuring it out in the 4th quarter and OT, otherwise the storyline would’ve been how Stafford carved up our defense.

Macdonald just isn’t good enough to match wits with Shannahan and McVay. The Ravens also struggled against the Rams with Macdonald. John Schneider should’ve noticed that, but of course he didn’t because he’s not a good GM.

Again, I like Macdonald. Seems like a funny dude and is a great defensive coordinator. Not a head coach.
23 wins so far in his first 2 years as a first time HC...and he's no good as a HC with no future as a HC. Make that line of thinking make sense.....please.

I expect SF to put up points next week because the style of the game will demand they do. At the moment its score a TD every drive or bust for SF (2 punts all month!). Our defense will do a better job than the Bears and the Colts I can be sure of that. Style of the game I expect will be Seattle getting into a lead and SF forced to go even more aggressive to keep pace. A comfortable win despite a SF points total in the 20s or low 30s will still represent a defensive win in my book.

I expect our Defense to hold them to at least half the amount of points they scored against the Bears so instead of 42, it will be 21 points.

And it will be up to the offense to take advantage of the Niners crappy defense.

Can they score more than 21 points? YES.

How many head coaches out there have a better w/l record than MacDonald has this year? There has never been another head coach who has demonstrated a success rate in his first two years as a head coach as MacDonald has. That is why he was hired.

I imagine a LOT of GM's are pissed they didn't hire Mike.
He absolutely IS good enough, in fact he's damn good. And he's getting better. The jump from year 1 to 2 has been nothing short of incredible.
And honestly, they have exceeded my expectations, and I'm a known homer. I did NOT see them being this good this soon.

I would like to apologize for my earlier comments. I was in a very foul mood, I was out of line. To JPatera and the entire community, I am sorry. I hope to remain a member of this board and community for the long term future. I believe I can contribute great things to this forum.

I hope you’ll consider my apology. I love the Seahawks and have had a fun time enjoying the great ride this season. Let’s go Seahawks!!

Wait until next week if things go the wrong way (or a playoff loss). You're going to see ALOT of people in a foul mood, and threads will be all over the place (including firing Macdonald)! It's just funny that you jumped all the way there after a win.

I really like Macdonald, but if you don’t think he was hired here to counter McVay and Shannahan, you are severely naive. That’s exactly why he was hired, and so far, his defense has performed MISERABLY against those offenses.

Time and time again, Macdonald’s scheme has failed against the 49ers and Rams. Our defense, our amazing, super special defense, gave up 37 points and over 200 receiving yards to one guy. That is unacceptable, especially if you are a defensive minded coach! That is your job, to be a good defense, and against these two guys, Macdonald’s defense has barely done better than old man Pete’s did.

The team should’ve hired an offensive minded coach. They would’ve been set up for better long term success. Macdonald’s scheme isn’t working, his message will grow old and stale fast, and we’ll be back looking for a head coach within the next 3 years.
Hired to counter?

Da Phuc that mean?

Football coaches are hired to coach, with an expectation of winning.

Scheme isn’t working?

Da Phuc that mean?

13-3 isn’t working, then what works in your system?

Are you trolling for fun, or do you actually believe yourself? (Serious ?)

I was thinking narrow minded, focused on the last game with the Rams. I was wrong, and I apologize. Macdonald is a great coach.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. Take a step back chief and chill out. First off, Coach is doing an excellent job, PEROID. Macdonalds defense isn't perfect and giving up 200 yards to one player hasn't happened at all yet so saying the scheme failed is in correct. If it was all the time like with Petey boys shitty defense than that's a defense scheme failure. We held that Rams offense se to under 250 yards total in the first meeting in their house so the scheme didn't fail. Within 3 years? Are you even a Hawks fan or are you just shitting on everyone parade here. Coach Mike has 10 wins last year 13 wins this year, he's not going anywhere anytime soon. Petey boy was 7-9 the first 2 years and got literally BLOWN OUT in over than 60 percent of those games during the first 2 years and he ended up staying here for 14 years.

I’m not a troll at all. I’m seeing the forest though the trees.

This is a discussion board. I’m discussing my displeasure with Macdonald’s defense against the two offensive minded head coach he was hired to stop.

As a moderator, you should welcome football discussions. This isn’t a group think board, is it?
Then why the hell is your avatar of Coach Mike if you have such a displeasure toward him.

There's some truth to what he's saying. You play six of your 17 games against the same teams, and your record in those six games has a huge impact on your division standing and thus your playoff chances. Schneider certainly has those 6 games in mind during the draft. Of course you want quality players overall, but you're trying to counter your division rivals' strengths. Macdonald was hired because he was the best coach available, no doubt. But I also think Schneider had the Whiners and rams in mind and wanted a coach that was a direct counter to the strength of our division.

You picked the wrong forum bud. A lot of people like Coach Mike and you are shitting on this team. You will get eaten alive in here if you keep doing that. There are a bunch of us like myself and Aros etc... who live and breath Seahawks and have been fans since the beginning. You need to stay in your lane bud.

That’s the point I was trying to make, but I did a terrible job trying to explain it and now I’ve made myself into a joke here. I’m so sorry

You’re right, I was wrong with what I said. Again, I apologize.

I was simply voicing my displeasure and disappointment in the defense against the Rams, but I lost control and went overboard.

I’m a huge fan of the team as well, and have been for my whole life. I went to the Atlanta game this year and cheered my heart out, I had posted that in another thread.
